I have my delays and verbs covered, looking for a all in one unit with decent chorus, vibe, tremolo, phase, flange that can be put in front of an amp and cover these type of effects well.

How does this unit do in this situation? If anybody has other ideas that is an all in one unit speak up also. I know individual pedals would be best, but I would really like to find a good quality rack unit that is cost effective for this if possible.

I have a regular G Major and have nothing at all to complain about, it actually has too much stuff for me. lol good thing i didnt drop grand on a G Force haha
Great solid unit, noise gate could be better but if you're serious about crushing some gain than a decimator's probably in your rack already haha. All TC's stuff is quality, If all you need are good reverbs and delays just get the $199 G Sharp.

Not looking to use the delays or verbs in it at all, looking to run it in front of an amp and use the modulation effects mostly.

I've never used it, but maybe the Line 6 G13?

Rocktron Replifex?

Rocktron Multi-Valve?

Lexicon MPX G2. Great if you want the flexibility of putting the effects in front of the amp, or in the loop. It also has a relay/hard wire bypass on the pre-preamp effects, which is a big plus for me. You can typically find one on Ebay for around $350 or so.

I got a like new G Major II in the box if you need one, hit me up.

The Gmajors just have effects, no preamp.

The Digitech GSP1101 is a preamp w/multi-effects though. Very cool unit.

I use amps for drive so the GSP1101 would not be a good fit for me, thanks for the recommendation though.

I have a feeling the G Major II will only accept line level input so in front of the amp for just modulation effects probably will not work. Any ideas on this? I really did not want it in between my preamp and power amp if possible as I already have delays and verb covered in this area, wanted to put the modulation in front of the amp where I think it and tremolo, vibe type effects sound their best.

Any way to get a signal from instrument to line level easily? I also have a GCX in the mix that is feeding the input of the power amp in question.

the only way i could see doing this would be 2 level shifters. You need something to bump the guitar up to line, then somthing to bump it back down to instrument. To go from instrument to line just look for an active DI box. For line back to instrument google some reamp devices. It's going to be too expensive really.

Edit: even if you use your amp for drive you can use the gsp1101 because you can just turn all the drive sims off.

For example: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4 ... p_Box.html

Personally if you're just looking for modulation and stuff I'd go with the GSP or the Lexicon MPXG2 as already mentioned.

The Gmaj2 can be set to instrument level. You do this in the global levels menu. I think they refer to it as "Consumer" level. Line level is "Pro". FWIW, the modulations in the TC sound very good run in front of the preamp. It can be done, although you might be better off running something like the Nova Station as opposed to a rack unit for before the amp FX.

I see no reason why you cant use this in front. it has an input level knob you may need to max out but you should be fine. You also may need to ajust the consumer/pro settings (-10/+4)

When testing my unit when it was new I was at home using it in front of a practice amp.

Both consumer and pro are line level. One is just a lot higher than the other. When I personally tried the g-major (original not the II) in front of my amp it made everything sound completely terrible.

I think the GSP would be a great option for your needs. I use one in front of my XTC (for compression, fuzz, OD, phaser, vibe, etc...) as well as another in it's loop for delays/verbs/etc...

One of the best features of the GSP1101 is that the preamp section is completely bypass-able.

Just to add as someone who has used both the GSP and G-major 2...the phaser sounds and vibe/rotary sounds on the gsp are much better than the TC stuff. It also has a kickass whammy function considering its made by digitech.

I agree... I used the original G-Major for years, and when I decided to update my rig, the G-Major2 was the first unit that came to mind... I tried it out and liked it, so I ordered one from my dealer. I thought I was all set to go. Then I found a GSP1101, took it home to try it out, and was thoroughly impressed... I cancelled my order for the GM2 and ordered a 2nd Digitech. I've never looked back.

Eventide Modfactor is a stomp but has midi and better fx than GM2. ;)
