The Digitech GSP1101 is a preamp w/multi-effects though. Very cool unit.
I use amps for drive so the GSP1101 would not be a good fit for me, thanks for the recommendation though.
No worries mate. The cool thing though about the GSP1101 is that you can physically bypass the amp models in it, and just use it as an effects unit. Plus it can double up as a second preamp or backup.

I really did not want it in between my preamp and power amp if possible as I already have delays and verb covered in this area, wanted to put the modulation in front of the amp where I think it and tremolo, vibe type effects sound their best.
Any way to get a signal from instrument to line level easily? I also have a GCX in the mix that is feeding the input of the power amp in question.

Well, I actually use an SR&D Rockman Stereo Chorus/Delay half-rack unit IN FRONT of my MarkIV. The chorusing works really well in front of the amp for what I want to thicken the texture, and doesn't get too wooshy or 80s-sounding as if it was used in the effects loop, despite the fact that this is practically the thing behind the whole 80s power chorus stuff.
I just use it a bit differently and get a different sound.
It has a +10dB boost for using it between a guitar and amp, but I find in my case it makes the unit clip too much when I hit the strings hard. So I actually set it to line level. It works great. There's even a -10dB reduction for when sending an even hotter signal to it, but I don't need that much attenuation. Just unity gain.
So although I don't know specifically about the GmajorII, I do know that at least some line-level mod-fx rack gear does work well in front of the amp.
I understand how you feel about buying something that has too many features than you want. It's just too much of a waste. Overcompensating does have its limits, or otherwise known as 'foolish overkill'.
My guess though that knowing TC Electronic, the GmajorII probably won't like being in front of an amp (although it's almost worth a try).
If you do want to stick with TC Electronic, then I recommend you get their Nova Modulator, which is a multi-modulation effects pedal, made specifically to be used in front of the amp. Of course though it can be used in the effects loop too. It's got tremolo effects, vibrato, univibe wobbles, a tri-stereo chorus simulation, a fair bit of stuff. If I liked the "slick polished clicky brighter thinned out"-TC type of chorus sound, I'd own one in a jiffy.
Or you could try the Eventide Modfactor. Or maybe even a Redwitch?
