Not really digging how the Vintage 30 in my Orange PPC112 is working with my LBX II, particularly at lower volumes, which is like 95% of what I do with that amp. I'm thinking about replacing it with either a G12-EVH, M-65 Creamback or Neo Creamback.

I already used to have a pair of G12-EVH's in my 4x12 at some point. I dug them. Mostly, I'd be running my 15W EVH through it, so I'm guessing the G12-EVH would be the logical match with the EVH amp, but I'd probably like to be able to run mi 20W Krank throught, and I'm guessing the 20W rating of the G12-EVH might be pushing it. I am very curious about the Creambacks too. These three speakers all seem to have the same cone, so I guess they'd share some similarities. It's also nice to know there'd be some room to run a bigger amp through the cab at some point, but it's not a priority. The weight of the Neo Creamback is also VERY appealing, especially so I can take this cab to some small jams here and there more easily.

The least efficiency to be able to turn the amp's master volume up as much as I can would be cool, and low-volume friendliness is also important. I also want a warmer, creamier, woodier low-end than the V30 that's in there has, which I'm sure these Greenback variants all have. I'm leaning towards the EVH, but I'm wondering if you guys think I might be missing out on something the Creambacks can offer. So what are the differences between these speakers?

Thanks.

Just put a Neo creamback in my Marshall DSL40 combo after having a creamback 75 in it for a year. Love the Neo. Very sweet sounding and dropped the weight 5-6 lbs.

Interesting. How do they compare?

The CB 75 sounded very good but was brighter and more in your face/tighter. Switching to the Neo was like rolling the presence back a notch or two. A little less bright, chewer mids, and it has as much bottom end as the 75, but its in a slightly different place

I also have a 2x12 with CB65's that I run with my JCM800 that sounds killer and may be my favorite cab. I use an EVH 4x12 with my Gower Kali that is nice too. The EVH speakers are more round top to bottom.

Interesting. Thank you dudes. The Neo Creamback is indeed appealing because of the weight.

So does the Creamback M have more top and bottom than the EVH?

One alternative thought would be to go Scumback or Weber.

I am not thrilled with my 20 watt EVH Celestions. I don't know exactly what I feel that they lack but they just don't do it for me. I would probably go with a creamback, but I have not OWNED one, but I have played some here and there.

I'm in the same situation as you. Recently purchased a Orange 1x12 to go with a PRS MT 15 for a smaller home rig but the V30 is just not my jam right now. Would a G12-75 make more sense or is the 12-65 enough? I'm not too savvy when it comes to speakers and the little nuances with them.

Is the V30 well broken in?

I loved my orange 1x12 when I had it once the v30 was broken in. But I was using a orange rocker 15 with it.

@Apex1Rg7X believe it or not i think a k85 or k100 would likely kick some ass with the MT. but I must disclose that I have NOT tried the combination together. However I have a metric shit ton of k85's around and have thoroughly played through a MT and enjoyed it.

I've actually tried the G12-EVH's and liked them (not with the LBX, though, but I don't see why they wouldn't work together), but I am wondering if the extra power handling of the Creambacks is a good idea for the 1x12... as long as they still work well at low volumes.

I have tried the Creamback M-65 before, but never got a chance to A/B it with an EVH.

I guess I'm also hoping the Neos have the Greenback vibe, especially at low volumes, but I'm dubious about the Neo magnet. If they still have the warmth and throatiness of an actual Greenback, that'd be killer, considering the weight.

I guess a standard Greenback could also be a candidate, now that I think about it... no?

And yeah, a Scumback would be a good idea too! Which of their models would be the best candidate for a warm sound in a low volume scenario?

I would imagine that you could ask him if he has a recommendation, he seems like a nice guy and he is on here often.

I have never bought from him, but I do have a Scumback that I got used that I use with my 18 watt clone.

Weber also makes nice stuff. TONS of options. Back in the day when Ted was alive he would recommend to me what would work best for me. I am sure whoever has taken over would do the same with reasonable accuracy.

I have five or so Webers around. I love them, but I don't remember which models I have.

I had an M65 in a 1x12 and didnt enjoy it on its own, its great paired with a V30 but a little dull sounding on its own to my ears. I havent tried the other two but Ihave tried lots of others in 1x12s. I wound up swapping in an Alnico Cream for the M65 and I love it. Its pricey, I know, but its been my favorite speaker out of everything I have ever tried in a 1x12.

Thanks a lot for the tips, dudes.

Thing that appeals to me about the Creambacks and the EVH is the lower efficiency, though. The Alnico Cream is probably as loud as the V30 that's currently in there.
