Gary Holt in Slayer......

No disrespect to Hanneman, as he's one of metal's all time great songwriters, but Slayer will sound better than ever with Holt.

Judging from the regression of his playing, I think something else is up with Hanneman. I don't buy the spider bite story. Love him or hate him, Kerry King is a very tight rhythm player.

And before the Slayer haters make their obligatory Slayer comments, when you create something as 1/100th as epic, monumental and influential as Reign in Blood, then I'll give a shit about your opinion on Slayer. Flame away

When I saw Slayer this summer Jeff was seriously slacking, no down picking at all, sloppy as hell. Jeff has played on some of my favorite songs ever, but I agree, something has been wrong for a couple of years. Gary is an obvious choice. Second to me of course. :D
I would love to see Gary and KK together... EPIC

How Slayer-like is it to have a flesh eating bacteria! LIVE UNDEAD!!!!!!

never paid much attention to Garys playing huh?

I actually do like early Slayer (Seasons in the Abyss and prior CD's) but every time I see a thread about them I think about daneyo talking about KK's solos sounding like turkey fights.

Just makes me chuckle ;)

All kidding aside.. KKs leads are the only ones I can peg.... Good guitarists struggle with that shit

I'm going to see them with this lineup, very excited to say the least

Nice

I've been a huge fan of exodus and slayer since i was pretty young so it's so awesome that i get to see gary and kerry on the same stage

I didnt had much interest for Slayer recently but with this announcement... :rawk: :rawk: :rawk:

I see alot of Hannemann slagging here... I haven't listened to Slayer closely in years but Jeff was always the best songwriter of Slayer... whenever Kerry dominated the writing it was pure crap IMHO.

If Jeff doesn't get better till April, I'm going to see Gary as replacement as well. Btw, it is European Carnage tour Slayer and Megadeth and it will be ultimate thrash 'till death show

I'm seeing them in March with this line-up, and again with the big 4 in July...

Gary Holt will kill but I hope he can do some things he usually does, instead of copying Hanneman.

Considering Hanneman is tighter than KK and Holt is even tighter than Hanneman.... this spells HUGE imbalance between the two sides of the stage!! :D Still a great show but as many have already pointed out, this is only going to highlight the two turkeys fighting on KK's side of the stage.

I thought that Jeff was the main songwriter. I am not a big Slayer guy but I saw them over the summer with Megadeth and Jeff rocked. I can't wait to see the Youtube vids of Gary holding his spot. I also hope that Jeff recovers well.
