I've always wanted to try the Chicago Iron Parachute wah so I ordered one the other day. Then Kurt and I began emailing back and forth about wah stuff and he mentions that he has built several rack wahs for Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Billy Corgan. And of course, I went: :inlove:

2 are being built right now and 1 will be heading my way within a few weeks once it is completed :)

Here's a vid of Tony Iommi using one:

Man I really like the voicing of the Parachute wah, talk about nasty sounding

Yeah I've always loved what I've heard of it but have never had the chance to get a real demo of what it all sounds like with various tones. I guess the rack version has a bit more control too. You can adjust the volume (some pedals have this too I think), resonance frequency, and adjust the taper. That basically changes the heel sweep/depth I think.

man that is the wah tone I've been looking for, my BYOC comes kinda close and all, but still...THATS IT.

HOW MUCH?? :scared:

About 7 BYOC wahs :aww:

BUT...the regular pedal version is cheaper. Not cheap...but cheapar at $380.

well I've looked at those rack wahs from Dunlop and all, I know you use those 4nk, but I needed a wah it seemed like the best choice at the time considering budget and all, but its not my complete wah tone...

Yeah I hear ya. I love wahs and have used a bunch of them over the years and I still have a nice little fleet but in terms of "the" wah tone I really like for heavy stuff, I'm still trying to find the right unit. The CI parachute seems to be the likely winner though :)

I have the 2SR and 2 EMB Audio units. I used to have the Dunlop 1SR for awhile too. Since the EMBs are so delicate and I've already had them pretty much die on me several times, they're for the most part put away for safe keeping. The Dunlop 2SR is a cool unit but it still hangs in the traditional wah voicing and while I like that sound, what I really want is that HUGE EMB Audio style wah tone :)

Yeah I just want that really vocal style sound. Something that while I'm playing and slowly rocking the pedal one way, just makes it sound like its gonna break the note off...you know....(also read: will give my jaw a cramp from excessive mouth wah)

Another wah sound I like is on Weezer's Perfect Situation, someone told me they used a crybaby for that song, but it sounds just so vocal...I'm not sure how to tweak my BYOC wah to get that sound...you know?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread....but I was thinking about wah pedals again, and my thought actually came back to this thread/conversation.

I run a Helix now, however, I still crave the wah sound of this Chicago Iron Parachute Wah, or the EMB Audio Wah.

Now, I know that both have a unique circuit/design/sound....and I will NOT 100% recreate it in the Helix, and I cannot afford to buy one (if they are even around) to add externally to my board....but I'm looking for some help on the specs if they are available.

I feel that with the tools in the Helix, I can probably get close enough to satisfy my itch of this sound.

Any help? I tried my friends Google and Bing with not much luck. I'll keep looking, but you guys tend to have much more experience digging this stuff than myself.

Great wah! I owned 2 (non rack) thru the years. Nothing else sounds like it. Robin Trower used one for a few years.

I bought a Parachute wah pedal right when they came out. I liked it so much that I got one of the original Parapedal by Tycobrahe s soon as a reasonably priced one popped up.
That was mid 2000s, and I still have the pedal.
Very unique sounding wah pedals.
