Genz Benz G-Flex 2x12 - anybody change speakers?

I'm starting to dislike this cab. Yeah, it has some thump, but the mids are harsh/shrill, and it farts out with volume on 120 watters. Did with my XXX, and now with my 6505+.

It's either new speakers, or Craigslist for sale.

Is this a 2x12? I'd say sell it and buy a recto 2x12 or an Avatar 2x12 (the latter being the cheaper of the two).

The recto 2x12 that I have is a solid cab. You might want to consider trying out that 6505 with some v30's before you buy though. You may or may not like them.

I've owned an Avatar, V30-loaded. Only ever played my Splawn Quick Rod through it, never a 5150. Oh, and yes, it's a G-Flex 2x12..

I love my Genz-Benz cab. Had it for many years. I've been using Hellatone 30/60 speaker mix for years. Love it!!

So the stock speakers sound close to V30s

i put in 12T75's. bedroom levels suck, too bassy, but crank it up and it comes alive.

V30's I believe. They sound good too.

not even close to my ears, they are eminence and are based on the Eminence legend v12's. I have never had my Gflex fart out no matter what level I push it with. I have both the 4x12 and 2x12. It's also a very smooth cab so the shrill thing sounds odd to me too. Having said that with a 5150 I much prefer anything loaded with v30's for that amp. Good luck I have a pair of Eminence Governors I had in mine for a while but I really do like the stock speakers better.

I dislike any cab thats not sealed for metal. Ive always thought the Gflex sounded stiff.

well I was kinda forced to change them as one of the stock ones went bad, didnt have money for another one so swapped what I had available...but yeah I like it.
