Has anyone soldered the small diameter (.155) cable to pancake jacks (switchcraft or GLS)? I am contemplating doing this for my board and a few cable runs back to my amp, but the size of the wire inside that cable is small and has me worried that it would hold up. Anyone do this?

It's definitely do-able. Just make sure that when you're done, you add some shrink-tubing around the portion of the cable where the pancake jack "grabs" it. SO that the strain is on the cable, not the connection.

Why not use the smaller Mogami (like Dave Friedman, Bob Bradshaw) or Canare wire?

The Mogami cable is another option I'm looking at, but I may be able to get the .155 GL cable very cheap. I haven't heard the cables side by side, but I think I may prefer the GL for long runs from the pedalboard by the things that I have read.

it'll work.. you may have issues destroying the insulation trying to solder to a switchcraft jack beacuse the iron will need to be super hot.

i do evidence monorail and mogami 2319 all the time @ 750F without issues.. i'm not sure i have any gl's kickin around to try..

Thanks. good to know before I buy the cable. I might try a few patch cords first.

Is the 2319 overall O.D. bigger than the .155 GL cables? I'm looking to bunch 3-4 cables in a loom so size is a factor also.

Canare GS-4 will get you there. It coils much better that the George L does.

I ditched all my George L cable and switched to Mogami 2524. very happy with it.

ditto....but i ditched GL's for canare. much cleaner sounding and less noisy..i remember my GL's being very prone to picking up microphonics and other shit noise.

i did however have them in my pedalboard for a while, but got rid of them there too, and sold them for a profit.

i much prefer evidence monorail over mogami & canare, but to each his own.. the 2319 is ideal for boards / racks, but I would run 2524 for an run off the board.
