Neck is kind of sticky for fast changes...what's the best way to get rid of this stuff? I don't want to shave the neck or anything, just get rid of the sticky....steel wool or a Brillo pad or what?

Thanks, guys.

Yeah just lightly sand it with very fine sandpaper. 0000 steel wool works too.

Appreciated....figured, but just wanted to make sure. Thanks!

I've used 1500-2000 wet sandpaper. It will smooth the clear to reduce drag.

I used a green scotchbrite pad and it worked incredibly well!

THAT'S what I'm talking about.....I wanted something easy to handle....does this stuff flake off? Do I need to do it outside because the nitro is dangerous or is it cool to do inside?

i'd avoid steel wool (danger of particles making their way to your pickups/electronics)

i've used a scotch brite pad with success on a fender, or more recently 1200 sandpaper works great on my PRS SE seems to work better

Scotchbrite is fine, and no danger. You can do it inside. Just don't snort the dust or sprinkle it in your coffee if you can help it. Is this your new guitar? If so, you'll get better results after the finish cures longer. Also, after you scotch-brite it, the gloss will eventually return from playing and will need to be knocked down again.

Yeah man, this is that new GT.....how long do you think I should wait to do this? I've only had it for just over a week....how long does the finish take to cure enough to do this?

It's not bad, mind you....I can just tell that it's be faster with the gloss knocked down some.

How long? Weeks/months. Depends on the formula, how thick it was applied, your environment, etc. My point was just that, as it cures, the nitro will be a bit stickier/grippier than it will be once fully cured. There's no real harm in doing it right now. Just don't go overboard with it.

All IMHO, YMMV, no warranties expressed or implied...

Dig the qualifier, man. Thanks, I'll take it easy on it.

use a kitchen sponge with the course side on the back. The extra roughness on the back takes the stickiness off and wont scratch up back of neck. It has worked on a few les pauls for me

Same thing, no worries.

Nice thing is, if you sell the guitar or change your mind it can be buffed back to 'gloss' status.
