Just discovered these guys, I REALLY dig the vibe (sounds like 70's metal, very retro)

liked the bit I just heard...gonna stick it on the ipod and see if it lasts
 
Wow. Was a bit skeptical at first, but dug most of it.
 
Opus Eponymous is an awesome album. Beginning to end, all killer and no filler. Can't wait for their next one to come out.
 
definitely took me by surprised.

They are a gimmicky band (costumes and stuff) but hearing this type of music I think the costumes make it even more EPIC.

If it was just another death metal band it'd be old and lame. But somehow my mind associates it to 70s horror theme stuff (art, movies, etc).

btw, the bass tone and guitar tones these guys have is amazing. The drums feel very open and not over compressed at all. VERY REFRESHING stuff.
 
They were just here (MN) with Opeth and Mastodon last May. But it was the show where Mikael split his head open and had to get 8 staples to close that sucker shut. :aww: I didn't go cause Opeth had to cancel and reschedule the show (not totally into Ghost but thought it would be worth chekcing out). I was pretty pumped to see Mastodon and Opeth in the same night. :rock: Guess I'll have to catch'em next time around. Hope there still doing the Heritage tour then.
 
The mystery surrounding the band is cool, but for whatever reason I can't get into the music. It sounds to forced and retro to me, and yeah, I've also always got King Diamond/Mercyful Fate vibes from Ghost.
 
Love, love, love em!!!! Can't wait for the new album to drop!
 
I take the opposite view: I find them very boring and gimmicky, and just a lame ripoff of King Diamond / Mercyful Fate.

I hate to always be negative but quite simply I think these guys are one of the worst bands ever.

I despise them, none of them are any good..Without the makeup and cult following I dont think anyone would listen to them.
 
I didn't know they sressed up like this when I first heard Elizabeth. The hook and dark sounds are what attracted me to listen to the rest of the album and the rest, they say, is a fairytale!
 
Ghost rules...love this album...When I first heard it a year ago or so, I thought it was mellow king diamond.

Forced is a polite way of putting it. I was going to call them posers. Very fake and put on.
