Hi there,

are there any Gibson experts out there? Today a Gibson ES 335 TD walnut, Ser.-#. 967881 was offered to me . On the back of the headstock it is marked the ser.-# and "Made in the USA" so it has to be at least 1970. The sound is really great, it has been played, it seems to be partially refinished a long time ago, but nevertheless it is in excellent condition. One thing I can't evaluate: The neck PU is stamped Gibson, but inverse, it seems to be a bridge PU?
Thanks fo any info concerning this guitar...

Should be about a 1972 with those embossed pu covers. The neck cover is right, probably just put back in upside down. I sold a near mint 1970 Walnut ES-335 TDC on ebay last month for $2650. That guitar in that shape should be worth around $1500-$1600 if it is not broken. If refinished deduct $400.

Best,
Brad

Thanks a lot for the information. I'm still a little confused with this Neck-PU, because turning it around would the pole-pieces will be on the wrong side. I saw on ebay last weekend a pair of embossed PU-Covers for a SG, but they are allready gone..., so if some has a embossed Neck-PU or -Cover: give me a hint...
