I'm striking out looking for explorer cavity covers. I can find pick guards all dang day, but no one sells the rear cavity covers.

Anyone have a supplier or suggestion on where to find these ?

I have thought about buying a busted up epiphone with the back cavity covers... but Id rather just buy the rear cavity covers.

Maybe go to a hobby store or crafts supply and buy some plastic sheets? You could also use plexiglass from Home Depot or Lowes. May have to go the Ebay route.

Im sure someone who makes custom pick guards can make you some. Have you contacted gibson?

Thats my next step. I found a guy in Canada, but shipping would cost more than the covers themselves.

After exploring Dallas guitar shops this weekend only to come up dry.. Lowes plexi glass wins! I'll buy a sheet of plexi and just use a saw to cut it out. Probably make some card board templates for it. Doesn't need to look nice since its going on a beater of an explorer.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Try Chandler or Terrapin guitars. Chandler was able to make a replacement pickguard for an 82 gibson victory for me, they already have their own templates, Im sure they could hook you up... If they dont have a templte you can provide them a drawing or possibly a rubbing and they can make it...

I know this is an old thread, but make sure to wear a mask and have good ventilation. Plexiglass isn't good on the lungs!

Thanks for the advice. I ended up using cardboard for a template and cutting a piece of spare 1/4 craft wood for the cover.

I sanded half of the thickness down around the edges and left a raised center. Kinda neat, and might perfect the process on day and sell them. After all that I slapped some copper shield on the back of it and called it done.
