Since I just pulled these out of my 2003 Iommi SG, I thought we'd have a look and at them and go over some facts I've learned over the years about them. These particular pickups are black chrome but have been worn over the years.

- Both pickups are the same pickup. So the set contains two of the same pickups!
- "Neck" pickup reads 15.1k. "Bridge" reads 15.2k.
- The pickup contains both ceramic and alnico II magnets.
- The Iommi sig was Gibson's 1st patent applied for pickup since the original "PAF"!
- The pickup has extra long lead in order for the single pickup be able to be used in the neck position.

Overall they are a very cool pickup but quite dark, with lots of low mids. Definitely better for Doom or Sabbath type tones.
I swapped them out for some cheap alnico V's that are brighter, crunchier & clearer sounding which suits my playing & tone better.

Yeah, I bought a pair of those when they first came out and found the same thing as you. Kind of muddy, and they smeared the tone.
