What do you guys think early 80's Gibson silverburst in good clean condition should be selling for?

Got a line on one but don't know to much about them.

Thanks!

Is it a Silverburst Les Paul Custom or another model? I am not sure if they made other guitars in silverburst or not.

I sold my '79 LPC Silverburst for $450 in '89...they're probably worth more than that now.

The only other models that I've seen from that era with the silverburst paint scheme were a Flying V and an RD.

I've seen a Flying V Gibson in silverburst, not sure of the price though. For a clean early 80s silverburst LPC you're looking somewhere just shy of 3k.

Should be $900, but due to the "Adam Jones Inflation Index", they're going for $2500 if in decent clean and non-abused condition (semi minty).

Are the customs's from that era dogs or something, I have a 1995 LPC that's a great guitar.

I dont think there a dog at all. My 83 Silverburst custom was bad ass, its just some people dont like the maple neck and ebony board combo. You just have to adjust a little bit, thats all. In 2000 I paid 1100 for mine and it was player grade.

I'm in the process of selling one for a friend. I've seen them go for around $2500 - $2600 on ebay......

The customs from any era past '80 are questionable - it's hit and miss. I've got some relatively new customs that pwn the competition. I've got some old ones that are sublime - but in between these were some stunning looking examples that simply played like shyte. So it goes. It's been belabored to death, "try before you buy" blah blah blah about Lesters. I'll say this, if you've got dick knowledge about a good playing Lester, any Lester will feel good once you get used to it. If you've got a handle on what it is that makes a Lester sweet to you, then you'll have to be a bit more scrupulous in your deciding criteria, and playing is really the only way to know.

i have an 82 all orig Silverburst Custom. Ive had offers of $2500 up thru $4000 for it. I would say the average is $2800- $3000 on these. All depends on how bad someone wants one.

and they are bad ass guitars. Just something about them!!

I loved them back in the day, but now that I'm in "possession" of one, I'm really not crazy about how the silverburst has become a greenburst.....

Anyway, if anyone is in bad need of one, I gots one and I can provide pictures!!!

Lets see it some pics!

I have been paying very close attention to the Vintage Silverburst Customs for a long time.
Right now in the past 8 months they go from 2500-3200.

Here's mine, just got this in and I really like it a lot.

I proudly paid $3500 for mine. And I've had offers to buy it from me up over $6,000. But mine is in better condition than most. Even though I play it every freakin' day. :D I'd say the normal range of prices (depending on condition) is somewhere around $2000 to 4000. And I don't know what all the hate on Norlins is about. I love the maple neck and ebony board. It adds a bit of snap and aggressiveness to the guitar. And mine (at least) is a solid, one-piece body. No pancake/laminate. No swiss-cheese. No weight relief. Love it!

What year is it, it looks like a reissue even though I know its not.
Do the Shaw pickups make one more desirable?

Thanks everyone for the input!!!!

Mine's a '79. Shaw pickups are worth more than T-Tops. But I've never used 'em. Mine has T-Tops.
