For the price which would everyone consider the better deal? I am a typical super strat player and I have always wanted a Les Paul Style guitar. Are there others in the 1K range that are good build with Les Paul tone? The Studios are a tad under $1400 and I have not found a place in the states yet that sales the Indie guitars. Thoughts?

Look for an Edwards, or go Epiphone some of the higher end Epiphone les pauls are great.

I quickly checked out an Indie and it seemed like a solid guitar. I didn't plug it in though.

Here's a link to a dealer. The guy is local to me, and this is where I checked it out while I was buying a case. He seems like a real stand up and honest guy. If you phone him he might give you a better deal.

PM Mark Day too., he's worked very closely with the Canadian distributor for Indie. I think he really loves them !

I like stratotone's reccomendation. It is also true that Edwards makes some lovely les pauls, very good instruments at any price point IMO. Snap a great set of pickups on it & you are golden.

I like the guys at Indie guitars. Very Cool people. I have had a few studio's they are very good workhorse guitars but they never gave me any kinda special feeling like I get from a certain standard I find when out combing through the gibsons looking for 'THE ONE' ..I have talked with Mark Day on the phone about these Indie les pauls and he say's he loves his. I know new they are $899.99 and that is a good price.

another vote for buying used. You can find standards or classics for $1400 if you look hard enough. I bought a standard premium plus for $1400 on ebay a while back.

Heck you could buy 2 studios for that. I have one of those too, that I bought for $650.

Indie guitars are solid, I tried them all at Mark's (Sam Hill) gear fest earlier this year (april). Great craftsmanship, couldn't find flaws. Serious bang for the buck. And great price tag. I'm no fan of trems but there was one Indie shaped like a LP - well, it was a cross between LP and PRS Sc - loaded with a trem and it had some mean mojo.
