A source inside Gibson tells me that they are going to produce a limited run of Peter's (once thought lost) 1954 3 x pickup LP Custom, just as it looks today. Along with being Tom Murphy aged, it's slated to have some incredible pickups in it also. My source would not give me any more information than that. I will never be able to afford one, but I'm anxious to see the final product.

Peter is one of the greatest, yet most underrated players ever IMO. Here is Peter Fampton w/Julian Frampton on vocals. Best new material I've heard in a long time.

Agreed! I love his solos in particular.

I wouldn't buy one but the story if the guitar and how he got it back is pretty amazing.

I love frampton!!
Premonition is one of my favorite albums. It got no air play whatever. Lot of good tunes on it.

I'm right there with you... I still like to check stuff out though. :)

Peter posted about it on his facebook page a few months ago.

Seems my "source" is no source at all. :aww: I'm not a FB member, so...

It'd be funny if they shipped them without the tailpiece, and quite frankly, I wouldn't put it past Gibson, at this point.

The history of that guitar is worthy of its own documentary.

Yeah when I read that story of the reuniting of Peter and that guitar I was little moved.
What a great tale.

An almost impossible tale. I'd love to know its complete history away from Frampton, up to its return. The person who removed it from the wreckage had to know who it belonged to, right?

- Who exactly is responsible?
- Why did this person not return it to Peter?
- Was it being played in a band context, or did it sit in storage?
- Did the OHSC survive?
- What made this person decide to give it back?
- Was it playable when Peter received it?
- Did any other gear survive?

So many questions... You can't help but be happy for Mr. Frampton. The look on his face is priceless! :)
