Gibson Sues DiMarzio over double cream

Everyone knows Larry is dubbel kreem and no one else can touch it. Gibson, however, can suck a bag of farts and get bent. All you people that buy those sweet sweet Les Pauls are enablers.

Maybe Gibson will sue everyone for building electric guitars.
Absurd. They’ve become like the school yard bullies.
Frivolous law suits. After how long. Their business practices are crap.
Yeah I’ve owned tons of Gibsons.
Today I wouldn’t spend a dime on any product they make.

Old rockers in my area would always tell stories about Larry coming around to all the local shops begging people to try out his pickups, begging people working behind the counter to check them out.. A lot of them would flat out tell him no, or that they had and they sucked. Out of the dozens of Dimarzio's I tried, I only like a few. Hope Dimarzio loses and we, as players and consumers, win. It's really foolish to have a trademark on two cream bobbins.

How the Fook can you trademark a plastic color combination...
In theory you're only supposed to be able to do so when the color doesn't serve a practical purpose. In other words, only in cases where a consumer wouldn't specifically desire the double cream pickup. John Deere was unable to trademark their green tractors because it was reasoned the green itself might be a selling point for the tractor. UPS can trademark their brown delivery vans because there is no competitive advantage to having a brown van.

The trademark should never have been granted to Larry, and the proof is in the legions of winders who have gotten C&Ds for making cream pickups - they weren't making cream pickups so they would pass as DiMarzios, they were making cream pickups because people want that color of pickup.

The Trademark Office obviously disagrees.
