I hear this is gibsons version of the seymour duncan 78 pickup spec wise.

I keep reading different/conflicting info about them, but the one consistent thing I see is that everyone seems to really like them. I tried a Les Paul a while back that had one in it and I thought it sounded on par with a Classic 57 Plus or a BB Pro. Didn't hear anything extraordinary about it though.

I've got one in my LP trad pro II. It measures around 8.6K and I think it sounds pretty good. It's very very bright to the point that I had to back off the presence to get a good sound. It's also a "loud" pickup as in the guitar seems louder than my other guitars when i switch them around. There are some EVH aspects to it but I wouldn't say its like a 78. It doesn't do pinch harmonics as well as the 78. It's just a good all around paf.

I'm running Tom Holmes H455/H450 in both of my LP's. I have yet to hear a finer sounding pickup set. I'm still interested in hearing Gibson's new offerings though. I've heard players rave about the poly wire '57 Classic's, but I think they sound awful. I knew Gibson released a '59 Lead for their 2014 Traditional LP models, but I've never heard of the Super '57?

Gibson made some great pups back in the day. Their T buckers sounded fabulous when used with high gain, especially after potting them. I recently pulled three '57 Classic's from a LP Custom, one of which has warped bobbins! Obviously overheated during the potting process...

QC Gibson... QC!
