When I put my deposit down on my Godin Flat 5 X last month, the dicknose behind the counter corrected my pronunciation. I knew i was off with with "God-in", he said it was "Go-din". I go to the site and watch some demo videos and the guy pronounces it "Go-dah". I've also heard "Go-dan" is technically the correct French pronunciation and that there is technically no correct English equivalent (which makes no F'n sense). Any Canucks or anyone else around here with the 411?

its pronounced Godin!

I've always said Go-dan, but that's because I thought it looked French, just not French enough to drop the "n" because, goddamit, we're in America!

I just say Go-din. Same deal with Vigier. I pronounce that just how it looks because I feel like an idiot saying "Vig-ee-ay."

Its Goh-da(n), there is an slight "n" sound at the end but likely impossible for you yanks to get it. You form the "n" sound in your throat vs. your mouth. Please tell me you're not saying "Vee-gee-ur" that is brutal, :gethim:

There should never be an "English" equivalent for foreign words, that's really dumb, IMO. Their language, pronounce it their way.

"Vig-eer" is how I say it.

I watch a lot of F1 racing though and I pronounce all the driver names and such the foreign ways.

Yeah kinda my point. The guy behind the counter didn't know either. He corrected me 3 times while I was talking about it. You figure a guy walks in and wants to buy something you should probably sell it, not be a dick that doesn't know what he's talking about. As for the second half, what is English then? American English is derivative of several languages. Not trying to offend with the Canuck thing either. You guys make good guitars lol.

It's OK, we say 'Eee-banez' here. :D

In Manitoba, would it be an "Eh-banez" into a "M-eh-sa"?
