anyone use these for powering pedals with success? I hear the One Spot can be rather noisy....anyone use the Godlyke?

1 Spot user here, I only get noise if I power pedals in front and in the loop, because of the not isolated outputs. On only one side it's perfect.

honestly, I cant justify spending upwards of $120+ on a POWER SUPPLY for my stupid pedalboard... I bought the DC Brick (being the "cheapest" at $120) and returned it immediately.. Caused a ton of hiss and noise with the MXR flanger for some reason. Seemed like the flanger didnt play nice with the 9v pedals thru that power supply.

I have been using the 1spot for over 5 years now and I'm sticking to it. It honestly doesnt cause me any noise, but I'm using only MXR and Boss pedals so I'm not sure if that has to do with it. I use a dunlop 18v power supply and daisy chain it to my 18v pedals. This system works well for me. My setup will have to break 6 times over for me to reach the dough that the "isolated" power supplies cost.

It's a total gimmick, where I was considering the voodoo labs one where if you wanted to power 18v pedals, you needed to spend an extra $10/cable to do it. And ontop of this, it takes up TWO spaces on the outputs of the unit. So for a measly small pedalboard like mine, i'd be using the voodoo labs one to its full potential which is a joke IMO.

I would try the 1 spot and see if it works for you. Worst comes to worst, return it if it is noisy and buy an expensive power supply. I personally think they are a joke.

I bought the One Spot Combo Pack (I think that's what it's called) and never used it so I can't tell you if it's noisy.  In fact I never even opened the box. I'll sell it cheap if you're interested.

I used the 1 spot and it caused the noise from hell. These were pedals in front of the amp which included a chorus, delay, overdrive, and fuzz. I also could not justfy spending the money on a power supply with isolated transformers. If I was gigging full time and using my pedal board in a job to make a living, then sure. My solution, cheap batteries. I changed them whenever they went weak or died and I changed them right before every gig which, no more than we gig, was a lot cheaper than buying an expensive power supply. Also, one less thing I have to plug in on stage.

Most of the noise from using daisy chain power cables on a switch mode power supply - or any supply without isolation - is caused from the pedals themselves and then the power unit is not isolating them from each other. Frequently if you can identify the noisy pedal you can put an isolator like the godlyke ground hound or gig rig virtual battery on it to solve the problem. I've found a lot of line 6 pedals to be noisy but wampler, empress, and neunaber are perfectly quiet. If instead the noise is coming from the outlet you put the isolator as the only thing plugged into the power adapter and then feed he daisy chain from that.

My 1Spot was really noisy... definitely not something I'd recommend.

I have 4 Godlyke poweralls, had one fail, but overall they have been great. I do see the value to isolated power supplies and if I gigged more frequently, I would make the investment and get a voodoo labs pedal power 2+.

I wrote this in another thread, but will put it here:

Here are some guidelines if you want to go with a one-spot or power-all.

1. If you run an effects loop, you might have ground loop hum. Easiest way to remedy this is to get one powerall for the loop and one for out front, then you have a backup supply too.
2. Don't assume you can power all your pedals from one powerall. Some Germanium fuzz's you should not daisy chain. Be prepaired to run a few pedals off of separate power supplies. For example my akai headrush, does not work daisy chained. I find most of these pedals come with their own power supply and I just use that. Here are some examples: TC nova repeater delay, Retroman Ubervibe, Diamond Bass Comp, Hermida Reverb
3. The poweralls at least have changed design over the years, hopefully they have improved. My early poweralls are in a small plastic case and don't have a ferrite bead on the line.
4. One of the risks of these onespot and powerall supplies is that they continue to supply current until their max power is reached and then they fold back (shut off and try to restart). This can be a concern if you have one pedal fail and thus all the pedals are connected. I did have a blackout effectors musket go out and the supply would keep resetting. All my pedals were fine and the issue was just a bad 3pDT footswitch. But just advising of what can happen.

I use the 1Spot and think it works great. If you need to power pedals in front and in the loop, just get 2. Any noise I've had was either the pedal, bad cable or the amp.

Had the 1-Spot, was noisy as hell from the switching power supply. The Godlyke is the same design.

You want a linear power supply with isolated outputs. I have one PP2+ and it powers my entire pedal board including my switching unit (except for my 24v Reverbulator pedal). The PP2+ also has voltage settings for different pedals. Totally quiet. All my pedals are on all the time and it handles the load with no problems.

That board is insane... awesome. Did you build it yourself? Damn, you even found a place for that Keeley looper as well. What's it looping?

Yep, did it my self. It was fun. That little Keeley looper is being used as a Mute/Tuner control. When I step on it, it kills my guitar's sound through the rig and goes to my tuner for tuning. Step on it again and I'm back live. Keeps the tuner out of the circuit when not being used.

BTW, that's an insane Lester in your avater.

Im using a 1 spot with no noise and my DM2 has never sounder stronger better

Man, every one spot that I ever used caused more noise than Ive evver had to deal with... Like the idea but the noise was unbearable..

I think the 1-spot is more popular, but still all the noise complaints I see are on the 1-spot, none on the power-all. I know they are similar designs, but it makes me wonder if the power-all is a better supply.

maybe i've just been lucky with my onespot
either that or Im making an application mistake..

well like I mentioned above, I only use MXR and BOSS pedals, so idk if that plays into it.. I did notice however the flanger and 9V pedals dont play nice on the same supply (DC BRICK that i tried and returned). However, I really have no noise because they are isolated thru the fact I use the OneSpot for all the 9V and then use the 18V power supply separately for the flanger/EQ. So it works in my case I guess...

I haven't tried the godlyke one or whatever its called.

Come to think of it, My original onespot from like 6 years ago or something failed after about a year.. But the local music shop I bought it from gave me a new one free of charge if I remember correctly. The replacement one has been running like a tank ever since..

Well that's one opinion. Sounds like you need to read up on isolated power supplies.
