Going to be a twin Splawn attack!

For the past three years, the other guitar player in my band has been happy with his Eggie Mod 50 and I was pretty stable with a 101B or 20th Anni XTC.
Then I went bat shit crazy on an amp flipping spree before finally trading for Rian's (crownedblasphemy) Splawn Quick Rod. For me, the search ended there.

Now my guitar partner just bought Fusionbear's Quick Rod (Chubtone's old QR)! Now we're going to have the twin Splawn attack! Perfect amp for the hard rock/classic metal stuff we play. Should be crushing!

And plenty of weird mids for everyone.

To answer your question... no, we're using different cabs on opposite sides of the stage.
The "twin" comment was meant to indicate that we'll have identical amps. Maybe I should have referred to it as bookends.

Nice score on his part, that amp is a very nice looking speciman that I drooled over for the last week (glad it's gone) Some day I'm gonna have to try one of these amps with ye weird mids everyone speaks of. I like mids but never have liked any Marshalls, ones I've owned or played. So not sure I would jive with a Splawn although one of my favorite 2 amps, my 101b certainly has some Marshall flavor in it.

Personally, I don't get the "weird mids" thing. At this point, I think it's a banner that Splawn owners carry with a sense of pride. I will say this... they are different, but in a really good way IMO. I've never been a big JCM800 fan- w/o a boost in front, they always seemed kind of thin to me. I played a 101B for years and then got a 20th anni XTC, but the low mid voicing makes them easy to get lost in the mix. An LP plugged straight in to the QR is the sound I hear in my head. YMMV.

chubtone, love that relic'ed axe in your Splawn clip. Awesome.

I'd love to also try out a Splawn some day. I love mids and high end and agree that most amps get lost in mixes. I can't stand that. I like healthy doses of presence and that is why I've always been a Marshall flavoured guy. As I don't have 2k to spend, I'm hoping Rob at Jaded Faith will be able to create an MTS Randall module splawn replica that gets me very closely in the ball park.
