What value pots work best with theses pickups? The stock pots have zero taper...

Same pots that came stock with the Lester? Should be fine as is. I don't think my tech ever replaced the pots in any of my BKP equipped Les Pauls.

Rebel Yells, eh?? Wow... Lookout!!

Yup...bought a set with the ray gun graphic. Can't wait to try them! Do you have RY's in any of your LP's? Thoughts?

The stock pots have zero taper...it's impossible to roll back the volume knob to clean up the tone with them.

Alright then man, my guess is 500s, but any tech ought to know. Worst case scenario is ask Tim at BKP - he's the onsite god there.

I've demo'd some Rebels, too hot for my liking with the amps I use, but they sounded absolutely miraculous through the modded Marshall I was trying 'em through. I didn't like 'em as much through my Diezels - so never went full bore with them. I own PKs, MMs, BDs, Emeralds, Mules and RRs.

Peace,
Mojo

Cool...thanks. I'm not crazy about real hot pickups myself, but heard nothing but great things about these. I think they're going to sound great through my Cameron HG/LG Marshall.

Have you compared them to the Aldrich pups?

500 are fine but if you are going to replace it bkp makes 550 pots especially for their pickups. thats what i have in my esp eclipse rebell yell vhii combo. plus i have their paper oil capacitor for the tone knob. sounds amaxing

ive read that the rebel yells are less compressed sounding then the aldrich plus they are wound by hand and come in any finish in color you want. Thats a major win in my book.

You're on the right track, and seriously, the 500s are fine - yes, BKP offers everything for an entire retrofit, but hell, just stick with the magnets for now and see how they sound.

Not to be a BKP snob, but anytime anyone ever asks me about comparing them to others - I can't say anything for sure - except that they're entirely unto a league of their own. To my ears, they're the best - period.

Good luck man, I am CERTAIN the RYs will KILL with the CCV and modded Marshall, hands down WIN!!

When I asked Tim from BK about pots for my Les Paul, he recommended that I replace all 4 pots with the 550k, and add the PIO Jensen caps with the vintage wiring spec. He never said anything about it, until I specifically asked. I did, and haven't look back. I have used the C-Bomb, Black Dog, Holydiver, and now I have the Painkiller, and a Rebel Yell. Currently the Rebel Yell is in it, but I'm waiting to get the Painkiller back in it. Both really awesome pickups. Don't know if I'm going to go after the Warpig or Aftermath next.
