Ive got a friend whos band gigs classic rock, pop, dance bar, kinda stuff. Anyhow, he had a big pain in the ass rack setup and wants to simplify, but still wants multi-effects & some programability. I tried to talk him down, but nope!

Anyhow, are there any decent tube amps that have built in effects?

I came up with zero. But I figured he should go try the Katana, or Blackstar ID:core. Ive heard some guys rave about them.
Any suggestions?

The Hughes and Kettering Grandmeister has built in effects and that series generally gets good reviews although most say to swap out the factory tubes.

This is impossible without a budget tbh.

If he was digital and cheap get a POD HD500X and a monitor that is IMO better than a Katana IMO YMMV, etc.

Your favorite tube amp with a single rack effects unit in the effects loop. :D

A tube amp with Boss ms3 .......The ms3 has effects and will switch channels on his amp and it is small . It would replace whatever footswitch he is using .

MS-3 and 4 cables is all You need. Do not sacrifice good sounding amp for effects. Something like DSL40 and MS-3 is ultimate all-aroung setup under 1000$

Right on, Ive seen some of HK's Tubemeisters, but I didnt know about this amp. Seems worth looking into.

Has anyone played/gigged thru either the Grandmeister, Katana, or IDcores, and formed an opinion on them?
