I've gone through a bunch maxon 808, h&k tube factor and sd-1 just to name a few. I am trying to find the perfect compliment to my jcm 800 2203 without altering the original tone too much.
Cheers

P>S I should mention I am just using it for solo's and odd textures in songs and want just a little more hair and volume but still retain that open sound

holy shit that was a fast reply thanks. I will definetly try that out.

If the BB is still too colored for you, try the RC booster. THAT is my definition of a transparent, versatile booster.

I've got a Gaspedals Carb boost. Frickin' neat pedal. It's got tons of headroom for a clean boost, and a gain knob. Switch on top to give you more bass if you want. I run mine with the clean boost all the way up, gain all the way down, switch on the middle - for solos.

Xotic Effects BB Preamp FTW

I think that pedal does compress a little bit, but not as bad as TGP tight wads think :D

How about a Barber Direct Drive.

Sounds to me like you're looking for a clean boost, not an overdrive pedal. The Zvex Super Hard On and the Seymour Duncan pickup booster are good examples. Ive had good experiences using EQ pedals, keeping the EQ flat, but boosting the Level as well.

Yup, others have used the MXR 10 band with good results.

The Direct Drive is more of an overdrive pedal that can get into distortion territory. Not a great choice for boosting.

The Z Vex SHO...search over

If you have the option to try several of them, do so...they each sound a little different.

Wow I have a lot of pedals to try out. Thanks guys for the suggestions guys I have a pretty involved weekend of trying out pedals coming up.
Cheers

You know I have no idea why I never thought of that before I will certainly give that one a try thanks for the tip.

I'm sure you won't believe it, but the MXR Distortion III behaved more like a true overdrive than any of the TS clones.

hardly any compression, hardly any noise, hardly any tonal change. just more distortion. It still sounded like the amp.

Bad Monkey works for me. Cheap and straight to the point. :D

+1 That was my first thought. I think the Klon Centaur would be awesome too, but those are very pricey.

As Nigel said the BYOC triboost has 3 different boosts. I use mine in some rigs for a solo boost on the Clean boost setting. I bought it for the treble booster, but then found out I don't like treble booster, so I just use the clean boost modes.
