I'm getting tired of doing the pedal dance at rehearsal and gigs. What are your experiences with midi units to use with the 5150 iii mini head? I'm looking at the TC Nova System, since it's fairly inexpensive. What are some other units that work well?

I'm using a line 6 pod x3 live. Works great and I use to get over the shared eq and volume jump issue between Ch 1 and 2. Love this amp. It's benched my mark v.

nova system is great for this and it's a nice footprint. the pod floor units and the boss gt series are also very good.

If you want to use pedals the Musicomlabs midi pedal looper works great with my evh 50w.

I use a Decibel Eleven Switch Doctor and it works great if you only need a few pedals....
It only has 4 loops but you can add more if need be...

I'd like to use a full unit that includes effects. Pod HD500, RP1000, GSP1101, etc?

I got a good deal on an HD500 today. Is there any special type of midi cable I need, or are they are fairly standard? Sorry, I've never worked with midi before.

Also, does anyone know if they seem 2 1/4 cables that are basically connected together? I thought it'd be nice to have something like this to run to and from the amp's effects loop.

Any standard MIDI cable will work with it. Are you planning to run 4 cable method or just thru the loop? If you go 4cm it really opens up the versatility of this amp.

4cm. There are some effects I want to place in front. I don't plan on using any of the amp models, but who knows.
