I am sick of spending $400+ on an interface only for it to become obsolete within a few years or when I upgrade my mac and the ports change....but, I'm dying to record with my Kemper...so I've decided to bit the bullet and get something under $200.

I have no idea what I'm doing when comparing specs and I'm not planning on releasing a grammy level album, just need something that won't give me any headaches and works out of the box.
Ideally it won't need an external power supply and must be compatible with a 2015 MacBook pro.

I've narrowed it down to the the following three and would love to hear your input or if you have any other suggestions.

1) Apgoee One - the most expensive of the bunch
2) Apogee Jam - no XLR input + kinda skeptical b/c of the tiny form factor (which is a plus in my book though)
3) Focusrite Scarlet Solo - I heard it doesn't play well with active pups

Slightly more expensive but a very well made DI. I have the previous gen model and it works like a champ in OSX and Windows. USB powered. The interface is very solid. I did not use the included software because it looked gimmicky even in the previous version. This is a very capable little unit.

If the output of the pickups is too high with the guitar plugged direct into the interface you can switch the input from Instrument to Line.

Interesting....especially given the SPDIFin which as I understand it can be used to record a DI signal from the Kemper (for possible re-amping later) in addition to the wet XLR out....and can be found used for under $200

I just use a $99 Tascam US2x2. Cheap, solidly made and works fine. Powered by USB
