I've got the big TC Spark Boost and I really dig it. I use it in the Mid mode with Level at 3:00 and Gain at 8:00, typical TS settings, to boost the my drive channels to make it a little tighter. However, I like to add a little bass to the tone.

Only thing I don't like about my TC Spark Boost is that it's not my quietest pedal; but it's used. But I'm also up for trying new things.

Pedals I've looked at are the Green Rhino, Timmy, MXR M77 Custom Badass OD...

Any suggestions?

Cheers.

I have mostly old stuff. :dunno:

Like a vintage Tube Screamer on steroids! All-analog design by Bob Weil and Joe Naylor uses the JRC4558 IC chip to deliver tube-sounding overdrive with more available clean boost, more transparent midrange and perfectly voiced treble and bass controls. Goes from a bluesy boost up to classic crunch and singing sustain without masking the character of your guitar or amp. And controls, switches and hand-wired jacks are mounted directly to a heavy steel chassis for maximum durability. Current draw: 12ma.

The revised Drivetrain II features several important improvements made in response to customer feedback:

Increased output volume - With the drive set all the way off the pedal is still capable of substantial boosting by turning up the volume control. This allows a cleaner boost for fattening up the sound, pushing a tube amp over the edge or for simply changing the eq of your sound.

Wider range treble control - Allows more aggressive sounds and more tonal control which is especially useful with dark sounding humbucker equipped guitars.

Neutral bypass - This buffered bypass does not alter tone when the pedal is bypassed and does not pop loud like common true bypass switches. And because it is buffered it prevents signal and treble loss when using long cables or multiple pedals placed after the Drivetrain II. We feel this is superior to true bypass switching.

Metallic Racing Green finish - Racy finish reminescent of 60's muscle cars... rev it up!

Friedman Buxom Boost

Yes, good choice, but definitely not a TS style.

The Green Rhino is also an excellent pedal. Better than the M77, IMO.

What amp are you boosting?

Bad Monkey is cheap and has bass and treble knobs

I would go with the Seymour Duncan 805 , full eq and really quiet . The Buxom Boost while maybe not a TS type pedal it will do everything a TS can do and more if that makes sense but I’ve found it can get a little noisy when the boost gets turned up , it didn’t bother me much though. The pedal I really like at the moment is the Cusack Screamer , it doesn’t have a bass boost but it’s a really quiet pedal and a killer boost

Fulltone FD-2, put it on comp cut. Or a Timmy.

I’ve found that the TC Spark that the OP is using is similar to the Timmy when the toggle is set on the clean mode. I didn’t care for that mode or the Timmy for that matter to use as a boost to tighten up my Splawns

I have to be honest I have not tried a spark. I like how my Timmy does with my rectifier or even Rockerverb. I honestly don't think that I have attempted to dial it in with a Splawn. Splawns are fuasy AF with boosts as far as what i have found.

Yes Splawns can be tricky to find a boost that works . Right now the Cusack Screamer is working great

Cusack also doesn't suck low end like most TS types.

Have you tried a Fulltone fatboost, I have one that I run with a 18v adapter...I dont think it colors your sound.. and it has bass treble

Elektron Analog Drive
KHDK Ghoul Screamer
Fulltone Fulldrive 1
Fulldrive 2
Fulldrive 2V2
Fulldrive 3
H.B.E. Plank Cranker

There is many others...but just a few off the top of my head...

Another one that is under the radar and very underrated, is the Hardwire CM-2. It works well with anything!

Just fired mine up today with the Randall Thrasher, and it killed!

All great suggestions guys. I aleady have the Savage Drive and I love it and it is MUCH quiter compared to the TC Big Spark, BUT, it does not have a bit of that bass boost. I'm playing a JJ100, so I use the TC Spark to boost the BE side, adding a little bit of bass from it, and use the Savage Drive to tighten up the JBE side.

Try a Hardwire CM-2.
