Dear Guys,

I just checked the new EL34BG from Ruby Tubes.
My first impression:

Low microphonics.
High power rating.
A bit less bass as on the EL34BHT, but I don´t think we
need more bottom end. ;)
Great midrange harmonics on the distortion channels
and very nice clean with a lot of headroom.

After 500 tubes I will know if they are reliable. Till now
it seems like. This could be another winner for Ruby.

Cheers,
Peter

How do they sound in the Schmidt, Peter? With the BHT I have to keep the bass low otherwise my bassplayer hates me ;)

Dear Peter,

Have you abandoned the Ruby EL34-BSTR? I still use them and have also tried the BHT but I found to my ears the BSTR to be more full and richer in harmonics - also quiet as a mouse at high volume.

The El34BG seems to be the leader on midrange harmonics
without this sizzle top end.

Take a try

Sounds good

My Herbert has more than enough low end. I think a lot of people set their bass/depth too high in a band context and therefore have issues to cut through. Maybe these new tubes will also help to stop the discussions that a Herbert does not cut.

That's music to my ears! I'll give them a try next time I retube.

Hi Peter,
is the EL34 BHT still your actual choice? If so, I´ll put them in my VH4. :) Is there a shop you recommend in Germany? I didn´t find them anywhere...
Best Regards und schöne Grüße!

I also like them a lot soundwise and they can handle a lot.

No, it´s called EL34BG and brand new. I can tell You
more after the next 1000 pieces. It will be available
from Ruby Tubes.

Liebe Grüße,
Peter

I can't even see them on the Ruby site

I suppose I'll see what's in my Hagen when she arrives....................................

TODAY!!!!

Ruby USA does not have the BG type available in the US yet. As soon as they will get them in they will let me know and I will carry them.

From playing the new Hagen I must say that so far the BGs sound really exiting !

Thats Hagen, not the tubes :D

Seriously I had Svets who died in an amp and Peter was so nice to let me test the BGs in one of my amps. They have fuller mids and a "nicer" treble (always difficult for a non native to describe nuances). I dig them a lot.

Does anyone know what the BGs actually are? I mean, rarely does Ruby 'manufacture' their own tubes, so what is the actual native brand and model of these EL34s?

Thanks, just wondering

Uncle,

there are two Chinese factories using the
same components.

The EL34BG is from the "other" factory
and it´s a STR type. These STR tubes
are build for a special request from the
distributors like TAD or Ruby Tubes / Magic Parts.

Sometimes the amp manufactures order
directly from the tube factory and are testing
and matching the tubes by theirselves.

In case of the EL34BG this is done by Ruby Tubes.
Nevertheless we have some influence to the design
of the tubes concerning qualtity and sound talking
with Tom McNeil from Magic Parts and the Chinese
designers.

I assume the EL34BG will be soon available at
Ruby.

VERY interesting. Well, all I can say is that these BGs are brilliantly musical, really smooth, and very punchy. 100% 'full' sounding - but I'm not in a position, nor am I tempted, to compare the Hagen with any other glass at this particular juncture of time. It's really outrageously gorgeous sounding...!!

Thanks for the info Poppa...

Uncle Mo

Thanks Uncle Mo

Now it´s on You to shake the world with
some riffing clips

Oh they WILL COME!!! I just want to really get to know this puppy before taking it public!!

Clips are necessary, as is a good job mic'ing this thing to get it as best as possible. The 3D is off the hook with this thing - as Reza has mentioned many a time... It's very, very FULL sounding - just a beast!!

Uncle Mo :D
