Got this guy tonight. Has a set of EMG Zakk Wilde pickups in it. Plays great. Has 9's on it. I'll be changing that. A few little dings but nothing bad. I got the original pickups as well.

It looks really glossy in the pics but in person it seems more "satin that got played".

It's a 2013 Trad that he bought new "old stock" from Guitar center late 2015.

Sweet dude, bet she plays good, now yank those EMG's out.

Nice! My 13' trad pro is one of the best playing Gibson's I've owned, great guitars!

Nice score. I like plain tops with some mineral streaks like this.

Ditch the EMG's

congrats! I'd yank the EMG's but it's personal preference.

Being the insane shredder that I truly am . . . . . Keep the EMG's and don't look back.

PS: That's a beautiful Axe!

Wow! Great score!

I agree with those that say ditch the EMG's. For many years I would pull the stock pups and throw in some EMG's. Then I started recording in my studio and learned really fast that, while EMG's are balanced from low to high, passive pups just have a ton more character. I went back and pulled the EMG's from all of my guitars except one. I keep it around to remind me why.

Thanks y'all! Yeah the EMG's will be yanked out soon and probably loaded into the cheap Warlock Deluxe I got. Really liking this guitar so far which is a huge surprise as I have been off LP's for ages.

How are the 57's that came stock with these?

Gibson 57 Classics are Alnico's and a good rock pup.

Not sure they're the best for heavy drop stuff.

Bottom is a little loose.

I have them in a 335 and they work good for that.

Yeah this guitar will likely stay tuned E standard and maybe drop D on occasion.
