I had Pro Series Modern with a 1.65 nut width. It just didn't feel right to me. It sounded great but wasn't as fun to play as my Ibanez RG's. I'm almost sure now that the nut width had something to do with it. It felt congested and tight. My new one is absolutely perfect.

I had Pro Series Modern with a 1.65 nut width. It just didn't feel right to me. It sounded great but wasn't as fun to play as my Ibanez RG's. I'm almost sure now that the nut width had something to do with it. It felt congested and tight. My new one is absolutely perfect.

I had the 1.650 with .780 neck on my first custom modern and I always felt the neck was too thin, but then I picked up my purple one with 1.687 and .780 and was afraid it would still be to thin, but that bigger nut made a huge difference in the way it made the neck feel thicker and better even though they were both .780.

To be fair my other custom modern is 1.650 with .800 and it feels good, but that 1.687 just feels better IMO. You don't see them too often.
