All I can say is... wow. It's a little weird to navigate since I didn't read the manual and basically just started spinning knobs. Here's the one sentence review:

It's the real deal.

I'll see if I can record an ok clip of my '70 Marshall that I profiled - it seemed to get it pretty good. ;) It's a stock '70, I jumpered the channels, ran it through a hotplate and had it loud as hell even though it was attenuated quite a bit.

The effects are good, I know people bitch about the 'breadmaker' form factor but it's stupid easy to tweak an amp or effect parameter in real time. I haven't even updated the firmware yet.

Anywhoo, proof of the pudding for me will be live at a gig. But so far, so good! And the presets are actually useful - not just "wow, check out how many effects I can stack at once" like most modellers.

I'm a day late and a buck short on this whole Kemper craze...

What's the going rate for one of these puppies and are they offering DI recording, phones, MIDI, USB etc??

Intrigued.

Don't take this the wrong way but it looks really out of place among all of those vintage marshalls :D Looking forward to your clips as the others I've heard were really cool. Happy New Pro-filer Day!!

Awesome news. I am hoping to have one very soon!! Some of the clips I have been hearing have really sounded excellent, like really excellent.. real as can be

Nice Pete, looking forward to the gig report as that was the place where the axefx seemed to lack once it was out of the basement or studio.

What will you use as a power amp or are you going DI ?

check out the clip I posted, see what you think. I've gigged my Axe standard several times, but the direct outs sound like ass IMHO. Sound guy has been running a mike on my cab.

I need to do some auditioning with the Kemper - it sounds pretty good into a QSC HPR1212i. This was a flavor of the month for awhile at the fractal boards until something dethroned it. Also need to check out the tones through a real power amp and guitar cab - I have a VHT 2/90/2, a Randall RT2/50, and a solid state Rocktron Velocity 300 that might even work.

So long Fractal......

Will we see the mass exodus like when Axe II was released?
This is exactly why as soon a Kemper was released in u.s. he said axe will also have profiling in the future. Something he said was inferior awhile ago. I think the axe 2 sounds great but to ke Kemper clips have sounded more like a real amp. Axe is a great direct sound but Kemper seems to have more air and life in somebody the clips. Both are great. I think there would be more of an exodus ha cliff at fractal not say he is gonna match the Kemper.

$1850 shipped from Sweetwater. di recording, headphone jack, midi controllable, USB (not sure what you can do with it yet) etc.

Think of an axe fx level modeller that you can model amps in your possession in about 5 minutes including setup time. Check out the clip I posted in the other thread - it's my '70 superlead, and there is no way in hell I ever got that close with an axe fx standard. Not sure about the II but I haven't heard anything that really sounded as good as what took me 10 minutes without even reading the manual.

Pete

Whoa, that's exciting. I couldn't be more excited for this technology. So exciting.

This thing is scary. First digital modeling piece that I've heard that's making me question why I need the "studio amps."

This is one of the reasons that the Kemper will win the battle with the AFX. Even AFX owners admit that they have to tweak for a long time to get a tone they really like, some even say it took them months. I can't fucking imagine doing that.

I wish this thing had been around 5 or 6 years ago

Could have profiled every amp that came through here

I like the part of not even RTFM! That describes me.....
