Now for something different....

Kevin Jones at Olympia Dulcimer Company has built me several off the wall instruments over the years but this might be the most out there... he calls it a Tar, its sort of a Saz hybrid, micro-tonal instrument with 1/4 steps. Spruce top, maple back and sides, floating ebony bridge with 4 small contact points. This thing is an absolute ripper to play. I went on a massive David Lindley kick years ago, this instrument is a result of going down that rabbit hole. Give it a listen

Anybody else into strange stringed stuff??

I love oddball stringed instruments, but I’m still learning how to manage the 6 string after 40 years!! ???
Hahah yeah, its really not that hard though....once you get the music part of it in your head then it just becomes mechanics and a different mental road map. Every person I know that plays even on a basic level is up and running on this thing pretty soon after a couple pointers. The 1/4 tones will fuck with you for sure hahaha

I've been thinking about getting an oddball acoustic stringed instrument of some kind, so this might push me over the edge heh

Do it! its a gas having different stuff around to play, I found it always helps my guitar playing checking out other stringed instruments. David Lindley is the King of taking a different instrument and playing stuff on it it was really designed for.

He also made my custom dual membrane kazoos. Figured koa with ebony caps for my studio kazoo, and mahogany with rosewood caps for my live ones.
