A grand jury on Tuesday refused to indict a coalition of Democratic lawmakers over their participation in a controversial “illegal orders” video last fall.

The failed federal indictment was pursued by the office of U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, as first reported by The New York Times.

The lawmakers urged military servicemembers and intelligence community personnel to defy illegal orders in a joint video statement released in November. The video followed the Trump administration’s decision to carry out deadly boat strikes in the Caribbean.

“We know you are under enormous stress and pressure right now, Americans trust their military, but that trust is at risk. This administration is pitting our uniformed military and intelligence community professionals against American citizens like us. You all swore an oath to protect and defend this constitution,” the lawmakers said in the video.

I love quartz. There is quite a bit in my neck of the woods. And springs.

100% fuck helicopters. Early in my career I worked for about a year with a company that did low level radiation surveys. One of the contracts had us go out to oil rigs in the gulf to check the drill pipe as they pulled it up. 90% of the time we had to take a helicopter to the rig. It fucking sucked.

We also had to do the crash survival training. Nothing is better than the opening line of the class being "there's 3 types of crashes, only one type you have a chance to survive so we'll focus on that one." We also had to do a practical part where they put us in this mock cockpit dropped us in a pool and flipped us upside down under water. To pass you had to successfully take off the seatbelt, pop out a window and get to the surface. Nothing makes you rethink getting in a helicopter after that.
