I've got a Granger JCM800 2204 clone. I love it. Curt's a super friendly guy who builds quality amps. Can't say enough good things about him. Here's a crappy camera mic clip of my Ganger 2204.

Sounds good!! I am gonna get the m50 plexi head, I do alot more classic rock stuff, cool shirt i have the same one!!!
thanks again, and keep on rockin in the free world!!
John

the M50 sounds the best to me as well....I have emailed curt a couple times and never heard back? Great prices though.

I just heard back from Curt, and I am getting ready to order one, I had asked him if he could gain up the m50 a little more, He said yes, I forgot to ask him if that would mean losing tone? so I am waiting to hear back from him? try to email him again, he may be busy with the holiday and family or something? I really didnt expect to hear back from him so soon but i did!

Oh BTW love Steel Panther!! wish I could get out to calif to see them!!

Cool....hope you post some stuff once you get it? What is the turn around time?

I'll email this thread to Curt and see if I can get him to answer some of your questions. I know he just starting building a 50 watt Lead Overdrive for my friend last week and he's got a lot of orders in at the moment.

I love your clip man! King's X rules.

Apologies for any missed emails. I have spam filters and sometimes things don't get through. Please keep trying, or you can try my alternate email - curt {dot} granger {at} gmail {dot} com.

John, "tone" means different things to different people. If by affecting the timbre, then yes, the extra gain stage will affect it some. It will sound more compressed and certain frequencies will be attenuated some - that's the nature of adding a gain stage to any tube amp.

Turnaround right now is about 8 weeks on standard models and 10 on custom jobs.

Thanks Curt! :) I'm gonna buy some recording software after the holidays are over so I can start learning how to make better clips. Hope things are going well for you brother.

I really dig the clips of the Hiwatt based model. Hell, most of the clips sound great.

Both Mr Willy's vid and the M50 yourtube vid are great!!

Thanks man! My wife's camera is all I have to record right now. I had the volume around 2 and it was plenty loud and clipping the mike. I can't wait to get some recording software and learn how to use it so I can make decent sound clips and record song ideas instead of losing them. I've put it off for far too long.

Bump for this thread. Does anyone have a M50. I loved the clips I heard from Curt demoing the amp on youtube! killer killer tone!

I was just down at Curt's a couple of weeks ago and got to play the H50. It was pure tonal bliss. Just pure, pure tone. It WILL be my next amp. First time I've ever actually seen KT66's in the flesh. Man, they are massive! If anyone is looking for a handbuilt Hiwatt DR504-style amp at an extremely affordable price, look no further. Still LOVING my 2204, too. It's the best amp I've ever owned.
