Great guitarists who CAN sing.

I personally think that Richie Sambora is a great guitar player.

I'd have to put a vote in for Vai. I love Fire Garden. And whoever mentioned Tom Englund, he has an awesome voice!

Nigel Tufnel
Prince
Jimi Hendrix
Jerry Cantrell
Robert Smith
Brian Setzer
Sammy Hagar

Kotzen is the definition of the total package.

He could have played nothing but rhythm chords the night I saw him, and I STILL would have been floored by his singing, stage presence, and dynamics.

Meh...ok, ok, so there are a few.

But...

I was thinking more along the lines of virtuoso players like:

Vai..yes, he sings but not very well IMHO
Satch...yuk
Eric Johnson...wimpy wimpy wimpy
Andy Timmons...no show
Malmsteen...no show
Steve Morse...no show
Vinnie Moore...no show
Dimeola...no show
Scott Henderson...no show
Holdsworth...no show
Govan...no show
Paul Gilbert...no show
EVH...not really

Clint Lowery

Who is Clint Lowery?

Sevendust

Interesting. Ive heard a few songs of theirs over the years that I liked but was never really blown away by the playing. Is he the dude who played in Dark New Day as well? I liked that album alot, but again the playing wasnt really anything Id consider "great". What tracks should I check out?

Not sure how Gilbert is a no-show. Listen to him sing fly me to the moon or karn-evil number nine while playing...pretty impressive. He also has 5~6 solo albums of semi pop-oriented songs where he sings. He's not Geoff Tate, but he is certainly respectable and his humorour lyrics cover up for some of it a'la "not afraid of the police today"...

Besides being a very good songwriter (writes a very large portion of the music and vocals in Sevendust), dude's a great lead player, but never really had the chance to showcase that. If you listen to a few of the Dark New Day songs (like some of the newer stuff on their myspace)or if you can find the band he was in before Sevendust, you can hear it. Also, his acoustic project, Hello Demons, Meet Skeletons showcases his acoustic writing and singing ability.

...Of course, I'm a fanboy.
