I have played a couple of Greco LP's, awesome guitars. I love old Japanese guitars.

BTW. Dibs (seriously)

:D

This willl be my first one like this, never played any of the Greco, Edwards, Tokias... curiosity got the best of me. ;)

I have a greco LP and have played a few others, the better ones are as good as any of the other jap production copies. The pickups and hardware are kind of lacking but the guitars are very good.

I've got a Greco lester that is a great player, it actually has one of my favorite necks. They've made some great stuff and not so great over the years but over all they tend to be good. I would look at them kinda like ESP in that they have made lower line budget stuff all the way up to top of the line stuff that is very high quality, they've just been doing it longer. The super real lesters are supposed to be Gibson killers, never played one myself, I'd like to though. Your V is probably a good one in terms of the product range, it's a set neck so it's not one of the cheapo's from that era. I'd guess it's a late 70's to early 80's but I'm sure no expert, I just love some old used Japanese guitars. There's a Greco section over at Japanaxe and the Tokai forums where you can dig up some good info.

One of my guitar techs and good friends swears by the old Greco guitars so much so that he has replaced all his original Gibson LP guitars withe Greco's. They will vary in quality but when you get a good one they are as good if not better then the originals.( especially when you yank the pickups Lol)

Hey Ralph! Those early Tokai's, Greco's and Burny's are all meant to be amazing guitars, right up there with the more expensive Gibsons :) They also have decent PAF's in them too which are nice!

I just scored a Burny LP Custom from the late 80's, i'll start up my own thread a bit later

Congrats on the Greco V Mike!!

Looks amazing  Let us know how it sounds, plays etc when you get it!

from what the owner told me, it's an 84 model, and said the PAF clones sound REALLY good. can't wait to get it, I've had flying V gas, for about a year now.

Okay, curiosity got the best of me... what'd you pay for it?

Nice score,I love Japanese guitars, and you don't feel
violated after buying them.
