My Mark III and Axe Fx don't get along using the 4 cable method. Doesn't surprise me though, I have tried the same thing with a Mark IV with similar results. HUUUUMMMMMMM

I had good luck with the GSP1101 and other amps, but sold it.

Anyone tried it with the Mark III for just effects and clean tones?

Let me know how it worked if you have.

Thanks.

Make sure that you have the C48 software version at http://www.mustbebeta.com.
Use the GSP1101's KILL DRY feature and set the parallel loop to 100% wet and it will work pretty well.

I had that software on the one I owned before. Good stuff.

Don't recall the kill dry feature. Need to refresh my memory.

Mark III has a serial loop...

I want to try a GSP1101 badly. Seems like a really cool unit.

I think it is a cool unit. Not in the same league as my Axe, in general, but the Axe does not play nicely with every amp I have tried iw tith in the 4cm. VHT's...no problem. Mesa Marks...HUUUUMMMMMMMM.

No big deal.

I think I may just pick up another 1101 for this application.

Anyone else?

I am pretty sure I will pick up the GSP1101, but thought I would bump this one more time.

Thanks!

I'm tossing and turning on whether to get a GSP1101 to run with a Mesa/Boogie 50/50 stereo poweramp, in stereo with my MarkIV.

It would probably sound brilliant, but yet I want to keep my gear as simple as possible...

There is no 50 or 60 Hz version, it works by isolating the grounds between the input and the output, therefore eliminating ground loops.

The GSP 1101 hums in 4CM with every setup I tried it with, including one with a Triaxis and a separate power amp. On all of them I solved the problem with a ground islator unit, placed between the GSP's "send" and the amp input.
Other than that, a great unit, easy to use and has a fantastic foot controller.

Does the Ebtech unit above do the same thing you describe?

You should check out the Line 6 M13. Impressive unit IMO. I use it with my MK IV with no problems

I thought about one of those, but unless I am mistaken, there is no amp modeling.....correct?

I want to use the unit for my clean tones.

I have the Behringer "equivalent" (read "copy"), and it effectively gets rid of the ground loop, if placed where I previously said.

Cool.

I bought the GSP1101 and foot controller yesterday. Should have it next week sometime.

As long as I can eliminate the hum (if there is any), I am pretty confident the unit will do what I want (clean tones and basic effects for my Mark III).

You will still notice some added hiss, especially on the high gain tones, even when the "pre" section of the GSP is not active. I got around this by using a hardware bypass for that section, with the help of a MIDI looper.

Got the GSP1101 yesterday. Had a chance to get it all hooked up proper and check it out. I do have the Ebtech between the GSP and the amp input.

NO hum or hiss

I cranked the shit out of it using internal preamps and the Mark III preamp.

Exactly what I hoped for.
