Has anyone tried using the BOSS GT-8 in the SLO 100 effects loop?

When I started my old band, the guitarist was using a Boss GT-6 into the front of a Mesa Triple Rec. I hated it. The day that thing broke was a good day.
That said, he was using the distortion tones on the boss into the clean channel on the Rectifier. There were some sounds he got that we weren't able to duplicate with the G Major II he replaced it with. The GT-8 has switching capabilities too, so it would work better.
The real question is really why not 4CM?

I used one for a couple of years with boogie MK III’s, but I ran it in the loop and just used the chorus, delay, phaser and a few other time based effects, the switching made it easy to change channels in the boogies but I never used the OD’s or distortion out of it.
Mine worked until the internal battery went belly up a few years ago.

When I was gigging, I used to use a Boss GT-8 In 4 cable method with various amps: Marshall DSL50, Peavey 6505, Mesa Mini Rectifier and Traynor YCV40. Always worked well and was very handy to be able to hit one footswitch and have all the effects and amp channels switched at the same time.
