..ok it's my birthday soon and my cable is dying and my wife wants to buy me a new one..don't laugh, I buy gear all year so when the days come around we buy each other silly little stuff :D

I've been using a Planet Waves Custom Series cable for a few years, any reason to change? Any better suggestions?

I use Spectroflex. Good cable and great warranty response on a failed cable many years ago. They did not require a proof of purchase and sent me a new one free of charge.

If you want a real high end cable look at the following: Vovox, Evidence Audio and Zaolla. There are a lot more but those are the few high end ones I have tried, and I have liked them all.

Just want one that sounds nice and clear, gets the signal through..coz I have enough pedalz to suck my tone..a high end one might be wasted on the setup? :D

Guess I should look at replacing my crappy patch cables too :-/

Check out Lavacable. There is a section called cable summit. It's very interesting. They even rate the most popular cables up against the more exspensive ones. I must add, cables really do make a difference, but you must replace all not just one, so your right no need in buying just a guitar cable. Unless, you purchase insteps (pedalboard, speaker to head even speaker cabinet).

If you want something in the middle price wise, but while still sounding great, look into Mogami.

I have a few almost 20 year old spectroflex cables that still work great. The braiding is the only thing that has come close to failing on them so far :D

I don't know about "in the middle price wise" but Mogami do sound great! Juts don't forget them at a gig like I did

if you want Mogami, buy the raw cable, cut to length and buy some ends to solder on...you'll pay a ton less. which in turn you can turn around and spend on addtional ends and extra cable to redo your whole board. here's where I get my stuff from:
mogami:

1/4" male ends:

canare:

I'm using Canare cable which took all the mud my old Monster cables slung into my chain before.

I LOVE my Planet Waves cables......

If it aint broke dont fix it (perse)

I love high quality cables in the rack and after the buffer, BUT

I ALWAYS use a Whirlwind Leader out of the guitar.

I have used the same two 18' leaders for over 13 years.

They have the best ends and they cut the extreme highs ever so slightly.

The monster rock cable sounds like an icepick in comparison.

Core One!!! Drop me a PM and I will set you up at a price WAY below retail..................John

I like canare. Mine got jacked though so I'm stuck using a monster rock for the time being

I was checking out the Core x2 on your site earlier...you surely have some sweet prices on there

I've always used Voodoo 20/20 cables. They're great. I've heard good things about the Evidence Audio cables too.

Really I think it's just a matter of how much top-end attenuation you want. Cheaper cables tend to roll-off the highs, while the nicer cables let it through more.

Thanks, I have and always will keep my promise to pass on the best pricing I can. I also can sometimes (due to special dealer pricing on bulk buys, etc) even sell below my advertised price, or throw in a freebie or two....

So Zepman those Core X2 kits are solderless? I think I'd be worried about the connection coming loose :aww: Have you heard of much problems with them? Alos how much cable do you get with that kit?

This is true. I have a couple of Van Damme cables, and whilst they're not cheap, they're cheaper and of lower quality than my EA Lyric HG, and they do have a slight top end roll off compared to the Evidence. Overall the Evidence sounds richer however.
