just had my 3rd lesson with him.been playing 26 yrs.i always find reasons to take lessons with an accomplished player.

i find jamming with my friends/band etc.the comfort zone.can chug some beers have a few shots and damn i sound great.

however, put me in a studio,an open mic nite,or jamming with peeps i dont know...and i'm like a deer in the headlights.
go to a music store,i forget every riff i know and just fumble around.til i get comfortable.

def makes me think, nobody is born with it,you hafta put the time in to get out of guitar playing what u want.that being said, music is not a competition.i do however strive to be the best player i can be.and when i come up short,i am discouraged.cuz i do and have put plenty of time and money into guitar playing, bands,CDs and lessons to get to where i am today.yet, something is still missing.

if anybody else here is in the same boat, even a lil in common with my post, you need to get with Carl for an online lesson.the money spent and time prepared for the next lesson are def worth it in the long run.so much information is given in an hr lesson.pdf files, backing trax, and just the general knowledge of an accomplished pro player.

i too have a very busy schedule.i'm a trucker by trade, married w/ 2 kids a dog and 2 damn cats too.i've taken my guitar on the road with me a few times.however i drive teams with my uncle.while hes driving,i'm in the back, watching concert vids, and reading.all when i should be practicing.as i said,i've had my guitar with me,but every damn pothole and bridge connection= bump, which means practicing in a moving vehicle is uncomfortable at best.so i went from playing in a cover band, 2 yrs practicing 1-2 hrs per day,to practicing 3-4 hrs/day 2-3 times a week.really doesn't work.too much muscle and brain memory is lost in the downtime.so did a lil brainstorming and the guitar will be back on the road with me on wednesday.and yes,the singer in my old band says i'm addicted to guitar and music.he may be right.

lotsa people can play guitar, not everyone needs to bury themselves in it to become the next Vai,Petrucci or Govan.but whatever your goals are.Carl can definitely get you there.i seen the thread about the practice regimen.if anyone is in a rut,and ruts can last a long time if u let them, send Carl an email and get the details.

now the holidays are here, would be great to ask the family to pay for a cpl lessons as an Xmas present.you really dont need another tie do ya?lol!

this has been a Public Service Announcement.

Carl is the man. I've never done an independent lesson with him but I bought his instructional DVD. I could only imagine what you could accomplish with a one-on-one with him. Although I am not up to a level where I need his expertise quite yet.

i used to say the same thing."VAI,Malmsteen,Gilbert, out of my league, why bother?"
thats how you stay at the same level.
tho, theres nothing wrong with that either.
i've just been blessed with having some good players where i live be friends and had opportunities to study with some accomplished players.but life gets in the way,and not being able to get on stuff everyday has hurt my playing.not making excuses, just stating facts.

digging in and asking for help, thats how you advance.
