Guitar recommendations! 7 string, 27"

howdy

On the lookout for a new extended range guitar, likely 7 string at 27".

Needs to get down to A comfortably.

Been eyeing off something custom from ESP with Fishman PUs.

Curious as to what else I should check out as I'm usually an amp guy ??

I'd look at the Ibanez 2027XL and some of the RGD models (26.5" scale) too, but if you're looking at an ESP custom order ($5k?), you have pretty much all options available. I've ordered some custom Schecter's that came out flawless.

Pickups are easy to swap but Fishmans are polarizing. I don't mind them, but there's a cocked wah sound to the Moderns that's hard to ignore once you hear it.

After playing one….. aristides…. No question about it . The 7 string i played with fishmans was one of the most mindblowingly good sounding guitars I’ve ever heard. Whoever doesn’t like those is deaf. Absolutely amazing.

I've had countless numbers of 7 strings from ESP, Ibanez, Jackson etc. At the end of the day I'm an ESP guy through and through.

I don't feel like you need to limit yourself to 27" scale so you can tune to A. 25.5" is more than sufficient for A tuning. Done it many times and a lot of bands do as well.

I currently have 2 Custom ESP's on order, a Stef B8 and Stef B7 and they both came in at just under $5k, but the prices have went up since so I'm not sure what they're at now.

As Cardinal mentioned, if you’re looking at Custom ESP prices, that opens you open to just about anything.
Mayones Regius and Duvell are incredible guitars and tons of 7 strings to choose from.
I’ve owned a few Skervesens and they are right there with Mayones (both in Poland, ex-Mayones employees).
I have a Suhr Modern 7 string that is extremely awesome too

I didn't know the Stef B7 was still possible to order.

One option I would looking at was a 7 string version of the current Stef B8
