For those guys with heavy guitars like Les Pauls, what straps do you guys use? Is it better to go with a 3inch wide strap or a padded strap? I am using a stock 2inch gibson strap on my Les Paul right now....

I have a thick leather strap which is padded, works well, but my guitars aren't too heavy (but I do play heavy stuff ;p

3 inch wide leather with my LP custom. Can play 3 sets with breaks and no problem. Any narrower and my shoulder would ache.

So it sounds like 3inch is worth going to for my Les Paul. My current 2" wide Gibson strap cuts into my shoulder after a while, but I was unsure if I should just add padding or the 3inch was the way to go.....

WORK OUT! haha just throwing that in there because some lame ass always puts that as a suggestion

I am a fairly small dude and recently been using a LP G0, with a 3inch levy leather strap I have had no problems with it digging into my shoulder after extended use. I think my G0 is ~9lbs, LP customs on the other hand should be heavier

I found that alot of padding didn't really matter. For me it was distributing the weight in which the 3 inch wide strap really did the job.

I use a 2.5 strap... with my LP custom. Breeze right thru rehearsals and gigs, no pain or whatever.

holy cow are those expensive :aww: They looks really nice though. Only thing that bugs me about that type of strap is getting them adjusted for the first time. I seem to adjust mine from time to time too.

I am going to go with a 3" strap, hopefully it helps. I need to weigh my les Pauls, been curious what they weight, but I have never put them on the scale....

I just picked up my second Moody.

Both of them are the leather top and leather back (read: the expensive ones).

I have an all black one that was my first and the best thing I ever strapped a guitar to, so that made me order the second.

The second is oxblood red (I think). I got it to match a cherry burst LP and it does. The leather is slightly different (slicker) than the black one.

I'm not sure if thats a different finishing technique or just the fact that my black one is three years old now.

Either way, yes, crazy expensive, but quality costs. I splurged on it.

Yeah, quite expensive for a guitar strap... Got mine(Leather front, suede back) a few years ago, price was just a bit lower. There is a big difference in feel between the Moody on my LP custom and the dimarzio quik-lok on my LP standard. Better damn well be at that price.
