I think Laura had it built with EMGs. It doesn't have a separate battery compartment, but the control cavity is like an L shape, which has a perfect spot for the battery right below the switch. I'll try to remember to snap a picture of it when I get home. I need to take some actual pictures of this thing to really do it justice.
Also, the neck is completely unfinished. The raw maple plays like nothing else I have played. The guitar itself is the first neck through that resonates and feels the way I always imagined a neck through should. And the is no neck join. Absolutely none. Its completely seemless. Also, stainless frets are incredibly smooth. Really surprised me since I've owned guitars before with stainless frets that were not nearly this smooth.
I also love the headstock. Lots of people call it a canopener, but ya know...sometimes you GOTTA OPEN CANS!! And its metal AF haha.
As far as selling this thing...Its better than my Gothic V, which has been my best guitar to date...and its not even close. Its MASSIVELY better in terms of playability and tone. Laura said the neck was modeled off of an ESP Eclipse, and it feels REALLY close to the ESP thin U necks, which I absolutely love. The guitar itself actually feels a lot like a perfected ESP Horizon to me.
