I found this hilarious, a fellow aussie nerd giving his 2c

IMO quality cables are an important thing, and I do think there are some subtle differences in cables. Obviously we all know guitar cables sound different going in the front of an amp, why wouldn't amp>cab speaker cables make a difference.

He neglected the reason I personally buy monster cables, whenever one breaks I walk into a guitar center/sam ash and walk out with a brand new one. Makes my life a hell of a lot easier, yea you pay a lot upfront but how many products will they do that with out a bunch of b.s. and waiting?

I agree, I'm in the middle.
I won't use cheap $10 guitar cables but I won't buy the $150 ones either.
The stock standard Mogami's keep me happy.

+1

mogami's and planet waves for me. ive had great results with both over countless others that exist.

I believe in the law of diminishing returns.

The more you pay for something the better it is... but after a certain point the difference becomes so marginal that you're pissing money away for little to no return.

This of course assumes you're purchasing a legit product rather than 'snake oil'.

I use Planet Waves.... mostly because they sound good and are easy to get replaced.

Well, I do agree with the majority of what this guy says simply because he is right.
Monster is the biggest crap sold to the general public, and stupid people do fall for it.
There is a sucker born every minute.
Just look at Tag at TGP.
He bought a Dumble....LOL
Monster has that replacement warranty because you WILL NEED IT.
I know 3 amp makers that will actually void a warranty if Monster speaker cable is used and the head blows.
There is a difference in cables, and there is a limit to what the cable will do to the sound.
I have done many side by side tests to hear the difference, and it does exist.
But not to the extreme like Monster claims.
I ripped apart one of their power supplies, similar to a furman, and the entire unit was almost identical inside.
Only slightly different with the added "gold" connectors, which is a joke to begin with.

O really? Who might they be and what is the reason?

I was laughing throughout the entire clip, good stuff   and I do agree with most of what he said. Basically sums up my position on 'boutique' advertised objects. I disagreed for the minute or so where he talks about monster cable. A garden variety 12' monster cable costs somewhere around $35-45, I just don't remember off the top of my head. Sure they have higher end models with prices as high as their imaginations, and some creative ways of describing the effects, but you're a fool to think you are getting your money's worth at anything higher than that. That is a case where the customer is to blame, not the advertisement. I think he should have mentioned something a little more 'boutique' in nature, like one of the online cablemakers that charge no less than $100 for a single foot of magic cable. He really does bring some good points.

 Same here, I bought a few monster cable probably like 5 years or so and broke 2 out of my own stupidity by tripping over them. They still worked fine but the ends were bent. Walked in handed it to the guy at GC, walked out with a brand new one. Makes it worth it for me right there.

Not gonna say who, but it is always due to the ends failing.

I've been using the same Monster speaker cable for years, and the same 10ft. Monster Rock cable out front as well. Many shows, practices, playing at home etc. with no problems.

I have had to deal with Monster Cable for the last 15 years working the the cable/sat industry. I can't count how many times I've swapped out the Monster stuff for the stock cables on my truck to fix a problem. Total waste of money.

Add in the overly litigious company habits and I'd never buy from them.

Never tried Mogami but agreed 100% on Planet Waves. I've had much better luck with the "high end" Planet Waves cables (still relatively inexpensive) than any of the "elite" cables that I've tried...especially Monster. In fact, I've never had a Planet Waves cable go bad to date.

I didn't watch the video, because I am at work and will when I get home. That said, Monster Cables do suck. Everyone that I have had has broken and was replaced, and those broke too. They are noisy as hell as well. In addition, the company is guilty of terrible business practices that can be easily researched, so I won't go into that here, and is the main reason that I won't support them. As for $35-$45 for a 12ft cable, I either make my own now with neutrik and canare GS-6 or Mogami 2524 and if I am feeling spendy, some amphenol connectors. I can make a 20ft cable that is much nicer, sounds better, and is of way better quality for a fraction of the price. It won't break and if on the tiny chance that it does, I can fix it myself. My warranty is better...lol. I just made one with the mogami, amphenol, techflex and shrinkwrap...and it was way cheaper than any comparable monster....(and I was just testing to see if I would like the techflex.) Not for nothing, way back when I brought back my first monster, to have it replaced to a huge store in NYC, I was told by the sales guy that it is very common and is one of the reason that most of the endorses that he knows has the connectors replaced as soon as they get them. Idk how true that is, but I wouldn't doubt it.

I will replace my Monster Cables as soon as they break. The problem is I've been waiting 12 years and it has'nt happened yet :D
