this really sucks man, I love Spanish people, I've been living here for more than 3 years now, but sometimes the policies here really astound me.

Today I went to this famous street that had a bunch of guitar shops, and entered one that's famous for having boutique pedals and not so easy to find in Spain pedals, such as POG, Vai's Gemini, MXR stuff, Mig Muff etc etc....

Now, I went in to try the new Boss FBM-1 pedal (the bassman recreation) and can check out how the conversation went:

Me: hi, I wanna try out one of these new Boss pedals, the FBM-1

Floor dude: oh, sure, bring out your guitar and you can try it out.

Me: well, dude, my guitar is at my place and it's not exactly around the corner, I'm almost ready to order, in fact I was gonna order it online, but I see you guys have it, I'm 90% sure I'll take it with me, I just want to try it out.

Floor Dude: sorry, those are the store policies, you wanna try a pedal or an amp, you gotta bring your guitar with you.

WTF?!? that fucker lost a client right there...I was gonna take the pedal with me FOR SURE.....but fuck them. Btw the guitar shop sucked, the floor was SMALL, TIGHT and most of the guitars (70%) where Epiphones, Squiers, shitty stuff like that.

Man, I know Guitar Center is not th best, but each and everytime I've been to the States I've had a GREAT time in G.C. trying stuff out.... the spanish music stores suck cock

Lol, now those are stupid rules. So you can only try a guitar if you are buying one?

If you wanna try a guitar, do you need to bring your amp?

jeesh, thats retarded, the one nearby here will let any 13 year old with pizza all over his hands play anything on the wall, into any amp he chooses, with any pedals he wants  Wonder why the policies would be different there?

No, I was just wondering why it would be different there

That really sucks. :( When I lived in St. Paul,MN I was lucky because they have pretty much all guitarists' needs covered between the G.C's and all the small vintage shops scattered around.

Get this: Willie's American Guitars in St. Paul had one of the first Ecstasy 101B's made and they let me TAKE IT HOME TO TEST IT FOR THREE FULL DAYS! Service like that is almost unheard of anywhere else! Of course they took my credit card number in case I decided to keep the head. (I bought an old Fender combo instead-- They also let me "test drive" a fulltone OCD and a Mesa 212 cab, both of which I kept. Just called em back and said "throw it on the card". Pretty awesome)

And for the record, I've had nothing but great experiences with the people at my local G.C. They go out of their way to help me with financing and special order stuff and are genuinely nice people. When I bought my Boogie, they hooked it up in a private room and let me jam through dif cabs for hours with any guitar I wanted. Cool place.

Some Epiphones are awesome guitars. Of course, they ain't no Suhrs, but still, some people enjoy them. Same with Squiers.

yeah I agree......but a guitar store that packs 70% of lower quality guitars? (starter guitars mostly)

Where are the gibsons, fenders, PRS, etc etc you know what I mean?

They can sell 10 squiers a day, while just 1 or 2 jackson USA in a week so.... I dont think i have to explain, it's the same everywhere

I know what you mean man. Maybe they don't have the financial power to do it, or PRS, Gibson, Fender don't wanna/can't get in for numerous reasons.

Btw, I prefer "starters guitars" than "shitty", if you know what I mean

Not everyone can afford Gibbys, Fender or PRS, so Epiphone and other "starter guitars" have their share of the market.

I agree with you, I'm sure they sell more "starter guitars" than higher brand/quality guitars, but the lack of good gear impressed me really.

For example, in the amp department, on EACH and every store I've been here I've seen:

-Rectos
-Some Marshalls
-Randall (not modular stuff)
-some fenders such as super champ, FM, Supersonic, etc (this store actually had a nice bassman and I saw a deville)
-ONE mesa express
-Vox AC30
-Peavey JSX
-Saw an old Mark III
-Mesa BLuesbreaker or a Maverick, can't remember well
-EVH sig amp

that's it man...maybe a few other stuff, but weird.....they lack a lot of nice gear. I was in Netherlands a months or so ago, and I saw one store, I entered and the amp room had:

Orange
Fenders
Mesa
Vox
H&K Triamp
etc etc

Hey, that is exactly what I was told last week. Went to a Store to try some Suhr guitars since I had never played one and the guy told me that I had to buy one if he was going to let me play it. Talk about putting the cart before the horse. Long story short, I walked out giving him some choice words in English and he gave me some parting advice in Japanese. I don't care what they have for sale or if they have the most Suhr guitars under one roof. Never going to buy a pick from that place.

That is a joke, no wonder I havent bought a guitar from a shop in 2 years.
