anyone try nos ealry 60's short plate 12ax7 's of RCA, Raytheon, Amperex in Hagen or in any diezel for that matter ?
Opinions ?

No.

And honestly, I don't think I would if I could. Diezels are modeled around more resilient glass, IMHO. They love the high PV Russian tubes - SED and the like - just sayin. If and when I re-tube my Hagen, I'll probably buy a quad of Winged C EL34s, and a quad of GL-KT77s, just for shits and giggles. I've got a nice clean quad of Winged C 6550s in storage. When this day comes, I plan on trying all three out before sticking with one. I'm personally very interested to know how 6550s would sound in the Hagen.

Peace

My thoughts precisely, Mo. Peter is the grand master of his creations and what he says regarding his amp configurations is Gospel.

And IMO NOS tubes are nothing more than over priced relics - not worth it. IMO Ruby has everything any amp could benefit from. Save your $$$.

Agreed again

So between munchin' twat and NOS versus Peter's recommendations, you and I are on the same page - this is a good run for us KC

As for the NOS stuff, ya, overpriced and a higher propensity for failure/inconsistency IMHO. Go with recently engineered glass and never look back.

Don't be so quick to turn your nose up at long plate Mullard 12AX7's.

The JJ KT77 is better than NOS EL34's.

Sure. And the Gold Lion KT-77s are the best in the world... IMHO :D

Ha ha ha ..here we go again LoL.I play an older 100wt Einy.I spent a year messing with pre's and powe.I found for my old school tastes ,I use new Tung-Sol 12ax7's,thay have about the same gain as chinease but sound more musical imo..hehe.Yes the madness continues,I had Ruby EL-34's in it but thay where geting tired.I tried new Mullard's..crap..Tung-Sol new pretty good, then went all in with German NOS dimple tops. The shittt at least for me.I think it is a lot about what you play..i.e. droped way down or watever.Don't know if this helps any,LoL besides I'm an old fart and swear that R&R has to be played with EL-34's.Specially if your going to do something more than chug a bunch of super low chords and scream LoL Peace

Gold lion kt77 just went it. Smooth smooth, less fizzy top end ber warm, pillowy bottom. Verdict is still out. Pres to be done this weekend. Gold lions got my attention again

Be careful with the NOS dimple tops. They cannot handle the plate voltage over 500. Diezels have a plate voltage higher than 500.

Thank you, about the Siemens dimple tops. Before I ever bought them, I talked to Duesentribe and he said no problem.Thay rock the house.
