I have a Herbert and am looking to purchase either a Cameron CCV or the Hagen. Has anyone had experience with both? If so, can you compare?

I own the Hagen, played the CCV proto, recently heard the new CCV . Totally different. Hagen is a better amp IMHO. More channel, better fx loops, impeccable customer service (we haven't seen any customer service from Cameron YET). Undeniable pedigree. Tone for days. Did I mention more versatile ?

The Cameron rocks, there is no doubt. But it's a pissed off marshall. The Hagen is more modern voiced and in my opinion flat out kills as a high gainer.

1 example. The new CCV with gain cranked, is a hissy monster. I hate that. Needs a noise gate if you chug and stop. The Hagen , or any Diezel is MUCH quieter and in my opinion way more refined.

Peter Diezel is a better amp designer, mark Cameron is a modder than made one cool amp. Peter has made many and keeps bringing the hits. Everything he makes is incredible. Cameron is great and has a rad hard rock thing going. But the Diezel has that and more.

Just my opinion though, and I'm clearly biased in every way. But I wanted to try and be fair about it.

If the Hagen did not exist I would have a Herbert mk2 , and if that didn't exist I would have a Cameron CCV from the new batch.

Glad to see the new CCV is that good. :D

Once you go Diezel its hard to go down a notch or two. :2thumbsup:

Another biased opinion from a Diezel owner on the Diezel side of the coin.

I was in the same spot as you a few months ago..
I owned a Herbert and after having it for a year and a half was ready for something new.
It was hard because I love the Herb.
I was on the fence between the ccv and the hagen and ended up buying a slot for the ccv.
After waiting a couple of months i decided to sell my slot and get a Hagen.
I couldn't be happier and all the excitement over the ccv doesn't have me gassing for one in the least.
The hagen has a lot to offer.. I don't think you'd be disappointed at all with the purchase.

Thank You so much , Reza !

I never met Mark, but it seems he´s a hell of a guy and he is designing
great amps now and he will increase this during the next decades. Hat up
for his awesome amps, which I would own one. Let´s be happy to have some
outstanding amp designers here with different tastes and drawing different
pictures.

I hope he will get the right business people around him supporting a glorious career.

If you are looking for a hotrodded Marshall tone Cameron is top notch in my opinion. I am lucky enough to have one.

But, if you are partial to your Herbert then the Hagen is your choice. Lucky,Lucky,Lucky Me

It all depends on what tone you are after. There is no wrong choice just different tonz. :2thumbsup:

Modern Marshall, Modern Diezel Its all good :rawk:
I like and have both, Lucky, Lucky, Me!

Just don't ask about speakers and cabs. It can get complicated. :bash:

I am not going to get rid of the Herbert, just add to the collection. Moose, can you describe the tonal differences between the Hagen and CCV? I don't have access to either and there aren't many good videos of the Hagen. Suppose the Hagen will be a Mk2 before Mo releases his video :aww:

Rez - After your trip to the LA Amp Show and working the CCV, can you provide any additional feedback between the CCV and Hagen?

It's a question of taste. I also experienced the Cameron CCV at the LA amp show and spent some time with Mark. The CCV sounds absolutely amazing and it has PLENTY of tone shaping options. No...It does not have the 4 independent channels that the VH4 or Hagen boast...But it IS versitile. I don't think versitility is the main issue...Tone is. Here's the big difference...The Cameron (other than being hi-gain) sounds nothing like any Diezel I have owned or played...It's a completely different flavor. I am partial to the Diezel tone because my hands and ears just favor it over other hi-end boutique amps...It's just so unique. That being said, I stand by the fact that the CCV sounds flat out brilliant! If the Hagen and the CCV are competing against eachother as a purchase, I think the buyer may not be sure of his true total preference, as they are (at least to my ears) not very similar. The Wizard modern classic and the Cameron CCV...Now that is cause for a comaprison.

Apples and oranges, really...

Never having played a CCV, can't speak about it. But I do know that I'm not a hot-rodded Marshall guy, hence my proclivity towards all things Diezel. The Hagen is a dream amp - seriously, but this is just my opinion. There are some Hiwatt guys out there who'd hate it I am sure, and some Mesa guys who'd say 'meh'. But I've come to realize that Diezel is a tone, and Diezel is also a level of perfection in engineering. These amps, much like fine German cars, are built to perfection.

And the sounds they deliver, to me, are perfect :worship:
