I have a line on a nice Bogner 4x12 with Greenbacks, and I was curious if anyone with a Hagen had tried it with greenies. I mainly play in the style of DeMartini, Lynch, etc.

Another alternative could be the Diezel with the Tone Tubbies.

I just tried my Hagen with a 1977 4x12" Marshall with old G12H-30's and it sounded great (it probably would with any cab). A bit less trebly and more laid back. More rock than metal.

Greenies are great for clean and crunch but delivers
a bit much sizzle at high gain for my taste.

I have a Hagen and play through a Diezel RL 2X12. It has a Vintage 30 and a Greenback. I would like to see how different speakers sound, but I really can't complain.

It seems to be able to run all 4 channels well, clean to high gain. I would be curious what Papa would recommend instead.

Hagen digs a girthy speaker when it comes to lower tunings. Bigger, heavier magnets - higher wattages. I've been digging it through my G12K100 4x12 more so than the V30 4x12. It's ballsy. I'd imagine a speaker like the greenback would excel in certain applications, but it would cut the amp's capabilities short if needed to go the distance.

YMMV.

Thanks Uncle Mo.

You make me want to buy a VH4 (!), and I'm a big fan of Bare Knuckles.

I have heard great things about pairing the G12K100's and Diezel's, but do they work better as a front load? I have a rear load 2X12, so I do not know if these would work. The Hagen deserves the best! Mr. Diezel makes me want to play my guitar more and more.

Thanks to Papa and Brad for this forum.

BTW, the Hagen + Blackmachine B2 is HUGE!

Hey, glad to be of assistance...

The VH4 recorded best through G12K100s due to the speakers "neutral" voicing. Not that they're flat, but they're very very nice in recording.

For gigs and jammin', I liked the VH4 through the V30s, just a hair more than the G12K cab. That said, I found a full complement of V30s in a 4x12 to be almost too spiky for the VH4, and it took away from its subtle tonal characteristics. Either an X patter of V30 and G12K or 2 separate cabs loaded fully with each would be best with the VH4 in my HUMBLE opinion.

The Hagen has a raspy midrange that - when the volume gets thumping - benefits from the neutrality of the G12K speaker. On lower volumes, it likes either the V30 or G12K. I've been tempted to try the new Creambacks with the Hagen - but my sound isn't so far off that it's mandating the need to swap.

Overall, I like the feel of the front-loaded cabs with the Diezels better. A Hagen - depending on the style of music you're playing - could go either way. Front loaded for heavier music, rear loaded for hard rock and the like. Just my opinion.

The VH4 always sounded better with FL cabs. In my experience.

Peace

Thanks for the replies. I think I may go with Vintage 30s instead.
