Come on guys, I know alot of you have some advice to share... but as far as what Im trying to clear up here is, which system is a true winner (being stuff that I might overlook before I impulse buy)? Price is not a factor to me at all, but I do understand alot of guys go with the Voodoo Labs GCX due to its affordability. The Gordius Little Giant is compatable with my Behringer FCB 1010 that I still have laying around, and you barely ever hear about this thing... but it seems like an awesome little device, its just that I cant see where its useful as a switcher if it dosent have alot of input/outputs on the back of it. RJM seems like it has been floating around out there with some of you guys, and a couple of high rollers here have tried to buy/sell some Sound Sculpture Switchblades, which to me seem like the Rolls Royce of amp switchers. Im not even mentioning going with custom stuff from Bob Bradshaw because I dont have the time or patience to figure out how I would want my future gear to sound, since you know we all buy and sell so much and things change often!
Please help a Rig Talker out here and discuss what you guys know between the FACTS of these amp switchers.

1. Sound Sculpture Switchblade GL
2. RJM RG-16
3. Voodoo Labs GCX
4. Gordius Little Giant

You might as well discuss what midi pedals are the best out there today as well, but as for me I am still thinking of getting the Gordius Little Giant with my Behringer Midi Footcontroler, and still buying one of the top 3 amp switchers listed above. So could you guys please help me out with deciding, based off of what you know? It would be awesome for others as well who might have the same decision to make someday.

The RG-16 is awesome and if paired with the RJM mastermind midi pedal it's so damn easy!

not sure if this helps but I 've had pretty good luck with VooDoo Labs. I don't have the GCX (looks pretty cool) but but own the Amp Selector which is an active 4x4 selector, ground lifts, level adjustments for each. You can select any 4 variations of amps, mix and match which is pretty cool.

I wish there was an amp switcher that had six independent switching functions and controlled by MIDI, and was compact.

If i were building the no expense spared setup with the most options it would be the Switchblade for me and the Liquid foot pro pedal.

RJM is looking pretty good to me as of right now... but is it transparent, or does it add something to the tone? If anyone has had extensive time with this unit could you please chime in? I have heard some say that the switchblade and SKRYDSTRUP MR9 are the top dogs out there. The bonus from what Ive heard about is that RJM makes cables to only take one send and return on the switcher... and that cable can operate all 2-4 channels on an amp. Sounds bad ass to me, but Im only worried about if this unit makes the tone better or worse with its transparensy... some units claim they are but I have read differently about this.

If there is a tone difference, it will be very minute; as little as possible. Frankly, I can't tell; YMMV...I have had nothing but great success with mine. Love the buffer as well. That unit is only adding 12" that the signal has to pass through unless you've got the loops engaged, but like I said...I think the buffer is fantastic IMO.

Plus, Ron (owner) is tops with customer service. Great guy! ;)

I used to have a RJM Effects Gizmo and I absolutely loved it, best off-the-shelf switcher I've owned. I had an old Rocktron Bradshaw, Rocktron Patchmate, CAE 4x4, and a Voodoo Lab GCX, and none of those compared to the RJM. I only sold the Effects Gizmo because I wanted a switcher and a mixer in one, so I ordered a custom single space unit from CAE..

..Well, I have to say, without any doubt in my mind, the RJM sounded better. I honestly wish I could have the cleanliness and transparency back that that the RJM had, but unfortunately, I paid $1800 for the CAE, so I'm stuck. CAE's buffers & relays work ok, but they alter and compress the tone more than whichever buffers RJM is using. CAE's are not terrible by any means, it's just that the RJM buffers & relays are TOTALLY transparent.

Alright, I see that some of you guys add in a mixer or line mixer Im guessing... but what will that piece of gear allow you to do that a normal switcher cant do? Is it having to do with a series and parallel loop, and you need a line mixer for parallel? I want to run a W/D/W setup and am wondering if you can get that done with just the RJM 16-rg. Sorry to hear your situation Klark, but if you could go back and do it again... dosent RJM offer a line mixer that would pair nicely, or would it be the line mixer that I see most going for on these boards (Suhr Mini mixer)? Lets just throw out the line mixer topic as well for open discussion... anyone feel free to chime in what they use their mixers for and which ones are the best out there.

I had the GCX and C Pro Setup for awhile and it was nice, currently i have a RJM master mind midi controller and a Sound sculpture Foot Sim. If I needed a Switcher I would go with the RJM, I like it a little better than the Voodoo Lab stuff (Although both are great products) I like the the ease of the the RJM stuff is a nice feature and i like the compact size of the Mastermind

Mesa used to make an amp switcher,I think they were
made to order though, sometimes you can find them on
eBay or craigslist etc.from what I read they were pretty
sweet, fast and quiet is all we look for.
But they aren't cheap.
