I don't know why everyones hating the monster cables so much, yea I've had a few break but they've all been under extreme situations, all were on my pedal board and it got dropped or knocked over or something and snapped off the tips etc. And this should be a non issue when you buy a monster cable you can walk into any guitar center or sam ash and they will give you a BRAND new one for free of exactly whatever you have, I've done it with a speaker cable, and 3 guitar cables, the speaker cable they didn't have exactly what I originally did but they gave me the best they had. Anyway, the guitar cables I got exactly what I had before hand, a 20 foot rock cable, a 12 foot rock cable and a 6 inch patch cable, also as far as I know they are the only ones that actually seal their connections tight shut, I'm not exactly sure how the process is but it's basically encased in a plastic seal underneath the jack it self if you unscrew it, also the monsters are 24k gold plated, which arguably doesn't make any difference unless your jack is as well, and the cables are good quality solid and to me are one of the few cables that I've tried that don't sound to "hi-fi" with harsh highs and they aren't unbalanced, they do color the tone of the guitar a bit, but every cable does it's just a different flavor of sound and I actually like how it sounds. They are also the most silent cables I have tried, they keep my rig so quite that I don't use a noise gate on either of my amps, it's just not at all necessary.
I think a lot of people don't understand the importance of a good buffer as the first thing in your signal line esp when most of us are running through quite a few pedals, patch cables and at least 25 feet of cables, try plugging in two different lengths of the exact same cable directly into the amp, a 10-12 footer, and then a 20 footer, you'll hear a huge difference in the sound of your tone, just what I've noticed anyway IMHO this is the biggest issue for people having cable troubles.
