The people that say changing your speaker wire will make a difference are the same ones that say the IEC Power cord going into your amp needs to be upgraded...
Yup

Yet another way to achieve a subtle improvement.
The debate over whether or not its placebo effect will go on for eternity. Truly.
I hear a brighter tone with silver wire and silver cables. Remember, a cable can only reveal what is there. A cable cannot ADD anything so In my mind a brighter sound from the silver cable/wire means more of the signal is getting through the cable. Be it secondary to skin effect ,the conductivity of silver, or unicorn magic.
heres a quote about silver from George Cardas of Cardas Audio he actually prefers the sound of copper to silver but makes interesting points about silver.
George Cardas: ... Silver is the best DC conductor, but, embodiment for embodiment, it is more inductive than copper. This trait, combined with its inherently lower loss, accounts for the bright, fatiguing quality of most of the silver cables (silver has approximately 5% more skin effect than copper). ... Silver is also a relatively hard metal and difficult to anneal. Hard coppers (linear crystal, etc.) also failed because of their tendency to ring mechanically. Electrically, silver is like a speaker box with no damping material. It will be more efficient, but it will have a definite "sound".
